Hello everyone, would like to introduce myself. I have always been a biker at heart, always on a sports bike or doing a track day, I eventually got a driving license and am currently driving a girly mg tf, but yes you guessed it I'm travelling down to Kent Saturday to view a vx220 turbo in red. Recommended by my brother who is an ex vauxhall mechanic he said its the closest thing to a bike for the money. So I know I'm getting one, hopefully it will be this one. Just thought I'd say hi and thank you for the tips and what to look out for when buying. See you out there ill be in the vx with the Rossi sticker on the back.

Welcome! There are a lot of biker/VX owners on here. I'm not one, I'm of the school that you can't fall off a car :P As far as rawness and feedback goes...you can't go wrong with a VX220, even on a straight piece of road it will chat back all kinds of useful/useless info about the road, you've come to the right place, good luck with your viewing! :)

Thank you! I'm not going to lie I'm pretty excited about this car, looking to do nurburgring this summer as I've done it on the bike. If anyone would be interested? By the way anyone heard anything about 'affordable cars of Kent' it's the dealer I'm viewing from Saturday. Thanks

I don't know the car but it looks nice. Just check out everything before you commit yourself. Good luck. If you buy it will you be modding it?

Dealers aren't always the best people to buy off , when getting a vx . Not that I'm saying don't , but most people like to buy a vx off a good forum member . There was a good vxt that fiveoclockhero was selling not long back . Check all the bonnet levers , sills for cracks , headlights if wobbly, Windows go up correctly, not major things but you can knock a dealer down . Good luck bud

Thanks for the list got some good points, I'm going with a friend who's a development engineer at ford, so he's experienced and a 2nd pair of eyes for us to go over it with a tooth comb. Will grill the dealer and have a good look round it before even considering it. I'm quite particular so I'm looking for a good example. Mod wise I wand to make it my own with some cosmetic work, ie. black rims, possibly a kit or some sprayed bits, and was thinking a re-map to start, then maybe a larini exhaust. Any advice on some good mods?

Thanks turboluca this is the first one I've ever looked at, and ill be able to test drive as its a dealer, but won't rush in, if its no good I won't buy and ill post on here to see what's about. The market looks a bit quiet at the moment for a red one.

That was me, I viewed it at the beginning of December, although I didn't have a good look as when I got there they said that they had just taken a deposit over the phone for it. The car seemed clean, although it looked like it had just been valeted, but it has got a couple of cracks in the sill that sits under the door, not the interior black plastic sill, but the actual bodywork. It's covered up mostly by a kick plate, so you can't really see how far they reach. I will be interested to see what you think, as I was actually planning on going to have another, better look at it as it is only 10 minutes drive for me, and the yellow car I was hoping to get didn't turn out to be as good as they said.

Yeah I'm on eBay looking At a good price on an exhaust. 240 would be awesome! Not mad on power just want a clean reliable nice to drive car. Ah thank you Adam, good to know, I'm driving about 70 miles to view it so don't want to waste my time. I've read cracks there can be common? Do I need to be worried? Well I think I'm well prepared and I've had lots of good advice on here so will have a good look and let you all know what I think of it.

I contacted Back on Track about the cracks, and they said, to give me a rough idea, although they said not to hold them to this price, that you are looking at around £500 to repair, but I was hoping that when I saw it again, they might have been willing to take the kickplate off so I could see what was underneath to get a few pictures to maybe get a better quote. I was slightly concerned that there might be a hole underneath the kickplate, which I would imagine would make it a much bigger job to get fixed!

If I go and see the car again, it won't be until Sunday or Tuesday, so you don't need to worry about me poaching the car from under your nose!

Meets are dangerous places, anyone you meet will force you to spend more and more money on the Lego brick. Go and see it, test drive it and see how you get on. You might not like a turbo and therefore a SC VX might be an idea. There is one for sale....
