Unless your garage is air tight and moisture free the carcoon wins IMO :)

You'd best launch the fcuking thing into space then, if that's your considered opinion. At least it will actually do some mileage that way.

Bit harsh matt. Its hard to adequately protect the vx's. And for those of us that don't have a garage, the carcoon is another option to keep the ice off them.

And I give a sh!t? I'd happily light the touch fuse on the booster rocket as well, if I didn't have to read more marketing toss about a inflated condom with a car in it.

I have a list of mostly irrational hates, ie:- Apple Products (I own an iPAD too) Anything (new) Mini, but especially the fat one. Those t-shirts with pretend fasteners at the top that seem fashionable atm ...and carcoons. It might actually be the name that does it! I'd rather a cat tapdance on my bodywork. It is irrational though! I dunno maybe its the very idea of having a machine and not using it. When I get a new mobile the screen protector comes off, and its straight in my pocket with my keys. I can fully understand why youd want or use one (carcoon) however, its just a different mindset to mine altogether.

Always strikes me as amazing that we don't see fields full of Carcoons storing the thousands of classic cars that are squirelled away and never turn a wheel. Surely that's in everyones interest, instead of having them in big barns and vacant warehosues all over the country? What's the stupid electric thing on the side of a carcoon. Oh yes, it's a fan. What does that fan blow? Oh yeah, air. So hardly airtight. But then you wouldn't want that to be airtight, as circulating air stops mildew, condensation etc. You know, the same reason houses are built with vent bricks and vents in the double glazed windows, etc. Have you put a hygrometer in a Carcoon to check there is 0% humidity in the air? No, of course not. It's not possible to remove it all with any domestic dehumidifier, nor is it a particularly good idea for long term storage as it removes moisture from things best left with moisture in. Is the Carcoon inside a garage/room that's climate controlled? Oh, no. So is the air being pumped in heated? No. Ah, so it's exactly the same as the outside air that surrounds it and sits on the ground with the same temperature as the unprotected ground 2 metres away. So we're onto the snow factor now. Errmmm, nope, I haven't had to go and clear the snow off the car or the carcoon as it's in a nice secure garage that nobody can see in or get in, let alone snow (of the amounts we get in the UK) that will crush it. So, finally, were just down to dust protection that a £30 Halfords cover would probably do, just as well - inside a garage. Can somebody remind me how a carcoon is better than a garage? If you're planning on storing an 80 year old Rolls Royce made of steel and iron for another 10 years without touching it, by all means stick it one (as long as it's in a climate controlled environment i.e. a building). Otherwise, it's just pointless on a car made of anodised aluminium and fibreglass. Alternatively, launch it into space where there is a vacuum and as there's no air, there'll be no moisture. Of course, there is the slight risk of cosmic dust but then that'll be the same with the carcoon unless it filters down to stupidly low particle sizes and nothing is going to save it from cosmic rays, in space or on Earth. I guess there's also the pikey solution of vac packing it, if you can find a big enough vacuum bag and decent enough pump. But that still won't save it from -10 temps if you leave it outside as it too is unheated.

You seem to have rather spectacluarly missed a point. Not everyone has a garage.

Who missed the point?

Unless your garage is air tight and moisture free the carcoon wins IMO :)

I made the point that not everyone has a garage. Like I said. That was missed.

I'm addressing the stupid claim that the equivalent of a Durex is better than a garage which is where I came in and where you took exception and waded in.
