Must be over due an update? How did you get on at brands last weekend?

Is it full steam ahead now to get the ITB on?

So yesterday and today were the last rounds in Trackday Trophy and Team Trophy at Brands Indy. What a weekend and what a season!!! I competed in TDT yesterday on my own. The quali took place on a very damp and greasy track, managed to qualify 3rd from 32. Come the race it was absolutely teeming with rain, luckily we had put the wets on and got a good start and led from the first corner. I led for the first nine laps and then a couple of class B cars that had a bad quali worked through the traffic and caught me. Eventually finished 4th and 3rd in class so managed to get another trophy for the shelf.

On Sunday I competed in Team Trophy with Jez from Back on Track driving the car as well. I went out first and got us 16th on the grid of 32, previous best being 18th. Then Jez went out and one lap from the end got us into 15th on the grid. Then came the last lap of quali and one of those moments of sheer elation and amazement. From somewhere Jez put in a storming lap and put us 4th on the grid with all the class A cars behind us. I drove first in the race and by the second corner we were leading, I couldnt believe it, we were leading Team Trophy!!! Unfortunately from here it went down hill. I led for 2 laps I think and then got reeled in by the class A and B cars. On lap 19 I was lying about 12th, coming into Clearways the alternator belt shredded and ripped out the crank sensor, race over. Poor Jez never got to drive in the race. Coasted into the pits and that was it.

The season has been far beyond what I imagined we could achieve. We started at Oulton Park where we got a second in race and first in class, then to Donnington in the rain where we finished sixth in race and third in class, onto Cadwell where I crashed and basically ripped off the passenger side of the car then onto Brands GP ( where Jez and Benny from BoT did a midnight gearbox change in the paddock in the plssing rain), Brands Indy and Silverstone where we got various 2nd's and 3rd's in class. We ended up with 8 trophies but unfortunately could never better the result in the first race at Oulton.

Thanks to everyone that came and supported but thanks most of all to Jez who throughout the whole season was there with moral support, companionship and a never say die attitude and did many, many late nights getting the car ready, the success we've had is as much his as mine.

I will be competing in Team Trophy next season, the car will be in class B with substantially more power. We have the plans laid out already.

Nice one guys. Only ever seen the car at the national but it was slipping through the field with ease.

Looking forward to see what a throttle bodied car can do for you next year. :)

Don't change it too much, still the best car I've ever driven on track. And by some margin.

We have the plans laid out already.

Ha ha, addictive this motorsport lark isn't it, Ali and I are also in the middle of planning our upgrades for our second season.

I really hope we both end up racing on the same weekend at Spa next year, it'll be amazing to just be racing at Spa in the first place, but to also have a VX team there to cheer on in another series will make it even better.

You've had a great season Mark, well done, you and the team should be very proud.

Be prepared for extreme highs and lows. For me it was the elation of somehow finishing second in my first race at oulton and then deflation after crashing at Cadwell 3 laps from the end and then everything in between. You certainly get addicted. Just 2 days after the last race of this season and we already have the plans laid out for the car for next season.

Seasons review video from the highs of the first race at Oulton Park in the sun and cold through to the crash at Cadwell and onto Brands in the sun on the Indy and GP then onto Silverstone and then finally Brands in the pouring rain on the Saturday with an end of season class podium and the Sundays disappointment of our only mechanical failure
