Question: Why do bike helmets come with loads of stupid patterns/stickers/paint/whatever on and car helmets are (mostly) plain?

Cos no one can see them in the car so a waste of paint/stickers. You can get plain bike ones too if you really want.

Always used my bike helmet too with no problems. I know some people like to wear open face in the car to hear and talk to the passenger but I've never liked open face TBH.

I hate full face helmets with a passion, claustrophobic, heavy, bulky, cant see, cant hear, cant think of anything worse to put on your head  suppose its a must on a bike but open face helmets are not quite as bad, each to there own I suppose. Can you use open face to race ? I guess full face are to stop your chin damaging the road when you come off a bike, not needed as much in the car I would think

After having several bike crashes you really don't want an open face helmet. I would only wear full face, plus I'm used to it so it doesn't feel heavy or bulky etc. In fact mine is very light and I wear ear plugs so can't hear anyway, lol!

I hate full face helmets with a passion...

I'm completely the opposite. I wouldn't be without a full face helmet but then I guess insects in the face at motorway speeds are good teachers

:yeahthat:

Yes you would be mad to go on a bike without full face, but then you must be little mad to go on a bike in the first place

I should imagine an insect would feel like a brick at motorway speeds, when you bikers are slowing down

I used a bike helmet for years and then there was an announcement a couple of years ago that some tracks (silver stone being one) were going to insist on a proper car helmet. They need to be a certain type. I was doing a track day at silverstone so I bought one. Never ever had my helmet checked there or anywhere, ever. What a waste of £300!!!!!!
