Lovely day today so thought it was time to try my new gopro. Had a std hero hd before but upgraded to the black. The wifi part is pretty good when linked to your phone. Although it does chew the batteries. I also like that you can set the unit to take photos while recording video.

Most of the back roads were pretty cut up after the snow and there was still quite a lot of ice about.

Nice video Lewis! Can see there is a decent difference in the quality between that and the old one! :) WiFi is a great addition too, saves those moments when the record button isn't pressed properly  I took a few last week, wet roads so nothing too crazy, will try and get them edited

Don't like the fact that you can't run an external mic and external power at the same time. I've ordered 2 more batteries and investigating cheap stereo mics at the moment.

Great video, picture quality looks much better than the Hero 2.

I often charge my Gopro hero 2 and run an external mic at the same time. i just plug the USB cable into a 12v socket adaptor. I didn't bother buying the skeleton housing. i just used a drill and made my own from the standard housing, it was easy and saved me £30.

Also, may i recommend the Olympus ME-15 mic. it's pretty cheap and has served me very well!

Just noticed it has gone up in price, i only paid £15 for mine!

Video of standard mic vs the Olympus. I use two mics now mounted in diferent places but you can just buy a mono - stereo adaptor instead.

Just using windows movie maker. Pretty basic but does the job.

The 3 doesn't have a mic jack input. You need a mini usb adapter which goes into the only port on the unit. So you can either charge or use an external mic. At least thats how I understand it.

Oops, looks like I need one of these:

Oh right, sorry i didn't know the 3 had different connectors. Gopro certainly know how to make money, that's a lot for a cable! I'm sure you can get it cheaper elsewhere.

Yeah, not cheap but will allow me to charge and connect an external mic. Thinking about trying a Sony MS907 stereo condenser mic. Seem to go for about £40 used. Then I guess I'll need a longer extension cable. This videoing malarki is beginning to get expensive for just a bit of fun!

I have a gopro 2 so not much use to you. I did not know they changed the connectors until I read this topic. I don't know off the top of my head but it was about £40 and had a missive foam thing to help cut wind noise. I'm planning on sticking it in the boot
