Will the vx take a dvd head unit, I am worried about the dash overhang stopping the screen tilting, so this would mean the head unit would be proud of dash, any help?

You'll struggle. I cut a chunk out of the dash to allow mine to retract properly.

I know Haggi961 mentioned in my mod thread that he has a Kenwood one that will allow clearance. You may want to PM him to find out the model.

Mine came with a flip out screen. Previous owner had it mounted about an inch out of the dash panel so the screen wouldn't catch on the dashboard lip. I took it out and sold it after about a week. Mainly used it With the screen retracted as couldn't stand the cabin being bathed in light when I was driving!

At least you had the common sense to look and ask the question first. I bought one without even considering that it wouldn't fit and now have to use it with the screen retracted or consider trimming the dash back...! Agree generally with the other comments on here about not really needing one but personally want it for the sat nav functionality as I do a lot of European cruising and I find having one stuck to the windscreen annoying. Unless you want in dash sat nav, I'd think long and hard about forking out the cash as I never miss the screen otherwise.

The Kenwood one does fit, I had one in mine once. You can adjust how far the screen comes out and also the angle of it.

Or install one upside down and then invert the image on the screen.

The main reason I got mine was for built in satnav, can't remember the last time I watched the DVB TV or DVD.

As said the Kenwood ones fit no probs as it's adjustable, Had one in mine for about 4 years.

http://www.kenwood-e...ers/KVT-526DVD/

Needs to be a "Z-Action" model.

Have to say I never open the screen anyway, can all be controlled from buttons on front with screen closed.

Personally I don't like the look of dab of oppo's dash with the chunk missing. And I don't see why you'd want a big screen in the car anyway? All you need is a head unit that has usb input or SD card, some better speakers and that's it.

When I got mine I wanted a DVD unit mainly so I could pop in 4.7gig of my favorite mps'3 and use the USB for swapping out various collections.
I had the choice of a full screen or a small one in a single DIN HU, went for the large one with the thought I might chuck the Tomtom and buy the satnav unit for the kenwood at a later date.
I never bothered and I would say in a VX that would be the only reason to got for a flip out full sized screen.

On a trip to germany I told my mate to bring some music or films of his liking as he could watch stuff if he wanted, he just brought a disk full of porn, was a bit distracting on the autobahn lol.

Optical media is really becoming old hat, especially with music. You can get far more music on a USB stick. So personally I don't care about the dvd / cd input.

I agree but it wasn't so cheap to get a 32 gig mem stick then and I still always have a disk in the drive as well as a mem stick at hand. I don't like having sticks sticking out the dash.

My memory stick is in the back of the head unit. And if you regularly change music an SD card will be fine. It doesn't stick out, is easy to access and not expensive (less than £15)

Yes now mate but not when I bought it. At the time I had a 16Gig sd card that cost me more than £200 initially. In my other car I have a double DIN with front and rear USB, aux input for iPod/iPhone/Android plus Bluetooth from phones. I use them all on occasion but still the most used is the dvd which has my absolute fav tracks on, I don't want to be making playlists and searching for stuff sometimes so I hit one button and there is my perfect compilation separate to all the others.
