Got a couple of engineers here today doing some modifications to our extraction system. One of them has a son who works for a company (Titanium welder) that builds and designs exhausts, do f1 BSB etc. etc.

If I was to go through his dad, could possibly get good rates.

Having used quite a few ti exhausts on bikes, I know the weight saving and more interestingly the fact that you can touch the things within 30 seconds or so of switching off the engine.

Don't know if they would come in as affordable, I don't even know if titanium has any practical issues, noise/longevity etc.?

If I could get this off the ground would reverse engineering (copying) another design be the way forward?

Would like to cater for stage 2 SC cars first for obvious reasons.

Is this even worth looking into?

Do bikes use it for the whole exhaust? I'd have thought the temperatures are to high for anything other than a back box

F1 manifolds are normally made of Inconel which is has a yeaild nearly the same as Ti but is good to over 900'C

Yep I had a KTM Superduke (1 litre V) with full Ti, and a KTM 700 single full Ti. The exhaust people also use Inconel.

Inconel is a cool material (quite literally :P ) but I would freakin love a titanium back box!! ;)

Every titanium exhaust I've ever heard (probably all Akrapovic ones  ) are obnoxiously noisy. No idea if that's down to design or the material itself. Would love the weight saving of titanium but as far as I'm concerned, it's all down to noise levels. If they're vaguely loud and make life even harder as far as trackday limits are concerned, then it's a non-starter for me. However, some of the people on here who think a loud exhaust automatically makes a car sound good and therefore must mean it's a fast car might be interested.

The VX220 already has a relatively small / light exhuast system, so how much weight would this realistically save? Plus its hidden away...

LOL feckers, Already part built and Dave H making it so product of the usual high quality, also the materials used are the best on offer. Dave was making one for himself and I needed a turbo oem layout backbox for Steve's vag exhaust to mate to the downpipe I made and well seems as all the hard work will be done see if a high quality system can be offered to the masses for a VERY good price So watch this space but dont worry im busy finishing other things :) so it will have to take a Dave which by the very nature of less characters in his name means its quicker ;) :P DG

After the whole 2012 Tullett debacle, the keywork here is noise. Will it do max 95DB or less measured on driveby on SC cars?
