FYI TAT sells one for the VX (fit with their specific toe links)

Stunning bad Design...

It's not a clever thing to join the two wishbone bolts like this.

Then you need to explain why you think this is the case?

Do I have to? I would've thought such an engineer as yourself would already know? For others, if you tie the back of the two wishbone bolts together, what do you think will happen when the wishbone on one side of the car gets a significant side loading (Think hard cornering)? The leg of the subframe will want to move latterally towards the other side, But the back of the wishbone bolt will resist, So, Then you have two ends of the same bolt being pushed in opposite directions, So,now we have a twisting force on the bolt and transferred into the subframe leg. The effects of this are that the wheel will be forced into excessive toe, and the bolt loaded in a fasten that is likely to bend/break it. If you want to brace the subframe, attach to the subframe, not the end of the bolt.

is the weakness of that adjustable bar the pitch of the two threads, which to my eyes look fine and coarse

Yep the thread on the adjuster is course with opposing threads, I've done 2 1/2 years with it and no issues as yet.

Not really necessary, it's down to being a one-off, the problem wasn't the width as much as the depth needed to miss the exhaust while allowing the diffuser panel to fit. With adjustable ends and length it could be made to fit precisely. Now it's setup further bars could be made without the adjuster.

Indeed!
As long as it is engineering!
