I would support it in some way so you can give it proper persuation, trying to push one and pull the other will never gain much leverage when the thing is flopping around on you threatening to take a knuckle off. Axle stand under rod end, get someone to hold the track rod with a correctly fitting spanner or stilsons and use a bit of shock i.e. a hammer on the spanner on the nut. Just don't go mad and bend the rack stalk.

Well hit it with some heat last night and got nowhere... :( I let it cool down and went back later with the penetrating fluid again in the vague hope that the heat will have allowed the fluid to penetrate further. First time doing something like this. How long should I be heating the nut? It didn't glow but you could see the nut going from a dark wet look to a light dry look....

Managed to get them both off last night. Cheers for the help and advice. I've measured the distance so I can put new back on in roughly the right position when it goes back together. However I will need new locknuts, my order at CN has gone through by now so don't want t just order 2 nuts. Are they standard spec from a diy store type or different and from lotus only?

Fantastic! I always open these threads waiting for the success post :)
How did you get it off in the end? Did you get it glowing or did you just bite it off in anger?

Well pax side was heated up but didn't glow but wouldn't shift. Wurst roost off sprayed as I left for work the next morning then when I got home had to reheat it but again wouldn't glow, thought oh great here we go.... but came apart nice and easily. Same for the drivers side the next day. No hacksaw in sight! Made a change lol
