The RAC's role is to get you home, not diagnose problems. I'm amazed people still patronise them.

Not if you have homestart, which I do in this case.

Ok they have admitted they were incorrect, and that the acceptable battery drain for their patrols is actually 0.06amp. Tey have also said that the patrolman should have investigated the drain and tried to find where it was coming from before then offering to recover the car to a garage as well as offering a new battery. Despite this they're currently not offering any form of goodwill, simply toi re-call out a patrol. I can feel a news story coming on. Wonder if each patrol is on commission for the batteries they sell to customers? G

Ok thank you for this thread, saves me asking you folks to regurgitate, going to give my battery a charge through the night & then do some checks tomorrow baring in mind my Varta is only 2 weeks old & the solar trickle charger has been plugged in all the time. So any ideas before I start searching would be helpful?

My vx will only stand neglected for just over a week before it decides it won't play without a charge up I generally leave my cetek on all the while it is in the garage And I have tried but can't find a drain tha battey was also new last year which I replaced for this reason and it was the same Car was perfect when used daily but obviously is scared of the dark in my garage 😃

Exactly the same issue as mine. Left on charge overnight, charged good, stuck test tune to it & shows excessive discharge but also shows full charge, I've removed all connections. Battery needs to cool down I expect?

Out of interest, does the VX recognise the fully charged battery, or could it be still trying to charge a fully charged battery and possibly harming it.
