Having the certificate in you posession means nothing. If you watch those police shows then you'll see tonnes of times where they pull someone over and they have their certificate. When they phone up the insurance company, it turns out they have taken out the policy, cancelled it under the 14day cancellation and kept the certificate.

Obviously if the police phone the insurance company they will get the details, but they don't believe the certificate on it's own merits anymore.

Correct Bob we had a big argument with this copper telling him the car was insured. His computer said it was not and so he radioed for a low loader to have the car taken away. When we told him his computer was wrong his reply was "its never wrong" :lol:/>

But it wasn't his computer that was wrong. It showed everything it should... it was the insurer and mid database that was wrong. :P

Which made his wrong, the dick on a stick should have listened to us and checked further before becoming the heavy handed "your nicked" arsehole and bringing out the lorry. but its ok he did not have to pay for it us tax payers did that for him

uh oh.... don't get Gordon started on taxpayers money and the police.

Just spoke to Zoe and she's emailed Aviva and expects it to take up to 48 hours to get the database updated. Not happy with this. I had NO IDEA that I wasn't insured / not registered on the MID until Nicol posted this thread which made me check.

You have the Data Protection act on your side, you can excerise quite strong rights to "force" them to get it right.

I rang CCI today - closed :( I rang Aviva - they said they can't do anything, just to speak to CCI....is that right? I asked if the policy was on risk, they said they couldn't check.

Now showing correctly on MID. Also updated insurance with the inclusion of the SC (from this Saturday.....hopefully) and paid additional £39 plus £15 admin fee....:( Got the paperwork through along with a 5 page letter for someone else along with their certificate of motor insurance for a Skyline GTR........!!! AND the first page of a 23 page letter pack for someone else - both with all their details on...!! Rang CCI - asked me to destroy them after taking relevant references so they could send them out again - said their admin department had recently moved - where to, outsourced to Stevie Wonder???

I got one of these threatening askMID letters this morning so phoned CCI and they said they are going to sort it.

It's a bit p*ss poor though and seems to be a common issue with CCI. Worth anyone who has insured their car with them recently to check the askmid.com website...
