Here's a question that has been going arond my head all week. :jump: If I am only using the digital output of a Sound Blaster Z card is there any point in upgrading to the Sound Blaster ZXR or the ASUS Xonar STX. As I am firing digital direct into an AV receiver I've no need for the DAC or opamps features of any card so what will an upgrade achieve?

The thing is the Sound Blaster's Core3D processor well improves on the on-board optical audio output. So wondering can I get even better!

If the VX needed DACs Wolfson's would surely be a contender.
