more time spent removing the arch liners and alternator belt and pulley so you can remove the plastic covers. Actually changing and timing the belt , idlers and setting the tensioner really isn't time consuming. I would always advise change the water pump at the same time, that adds a bit of time to drain the system.

Westie did my cam belt with me helping (I held the spanners when he stopped using them), we also did the water pump and an oil filter / oil change as well even though it didnt really need it. Every 4 years the cam belt should be changed but as stated change the water pump as well. TBH the whole change took us 7hrs (Westie is a top bloke and really knows his VXs, he is also anal about torque wrench settings and checking / replacing any nut or bolt he didnt like) Imnotworthy There will be a club member in your area I am sure will help for a few beet tokens. thumbsup

I'm in the same situation. I called Drive at Bristol (My most local VXR approved Vauxhall garage) they also told me they will need it for 2 days. It must be a Vauxhall thing.

Remember the person on the phone isnt the person doing the work. chances are they know fixtures nad fittings can be a pain and so will possibly be buying themselves some time too. better that than make promises they cant keep or worse still rushing the job.

Book time of 1.7 hours is stupidly optimistic.

Baylis also quoted me £199 for a full service which I'm sure is less than they've quoted before. If that's correct and they honour the 25% service club discount then it'll be an extremely good deal!
