Another thankless task.... Changing the front roof seal. Cleaning out the old sticky tape, sealant, gunk, dirt etc. Done half of it, next half still to go! Using isopropyl alcohol to clean it and that seems to work well at least.

See, I do have some acetone but thought it a bit too harsh! Nearly finished removing old sh*t now. Not looking forward to lining up new seal

Leave it a good while as IPA can be a bit slow to evaporate fully. I was in a hurry and contaminated the sticky bit of my new seal like this and it didn't stick. Had to resort to sikaflex. Its also worth borrowing the better halfs hair dryer to get the car and seal warm prior to sticking. Good luck with it.

Fortunately the car is parked in he sun at the moment thumbsup. I've already had the seal in the sun to open it out after it was all folded up.

This has reminded me i need to replace my front one, just had a look at prices for new ones and ouch!! The rubber itself is still in great condition, just the seal has lost it's stickiness, can i not just remove it clean it all up and use a high strength double sided tape to reattach?

Where's that price from?

Vauxhall quoted me £163 with employee discount for turbo front seal!

Cheers

Although that will also need VAT and postage adding on.

I think Christopher Neil's are a few quid cheaper, they done the group buy a while back. I've got one in the shed still all folded up in its delivery packaging, will it be okay like that for a couple of years or better to unfurl it?

Yup, some 3M adhesive tape will do the trick.

All done :) Far easier fitting than removing. Not water tested but it looks far more effective than what I had there
