They start as we regular people do, but the "clock" doesn't run until they have passed "Start" at T13. Then they just nail it all the way round including the straight (perhaps not exactly nailed under the bridge at the end) and stop the timing before going onto the short straight that's short circuiting the GP-circuit.mmmm...the spot they indicate as top speed is past the exit gate......do you think they fly all the way to the exit and then stomp on the brakes?!?That map shows clearly
that they don't measure the whole lap.

Since they do it when the track's officially closed they turn around at T13 and drive back to the "Zufahrt".
It was fun standing at the fence when they passed on the straight at about 270km/h with the Ferrari 575.
