Yup, MX5 ( or as we call them "Another Hairdressers Chicane") is a slow track car but they handle well and I think, more rewarding to drive.

Yup, I love your car James and think you have made a wonderful handling MX5 that goes well (for an MX5) welcome to try to chase me at any track of your chosing...

Funnily enough I am currently thinking about sort of going the other way from the mk1 MX5 that I own at the moment to a VX220 or an Elise. The MX5 on track is good fun and confidence inspiring, but it does feel a bit slow after having done a lot of track days in it. I always end up getting a bit frustrated in the MX5 because it's usually one of the slowest cars there (partly perhaps due to my driving) and I often find that I spend a lot of time moving over to let faster drivers through, so spending a lot of time moving off the best line.

You could always stick a sc,er on the mx5 ;)

MX5s are fun, but they are too slow in stock form.

Good idea, but I did actually previously have a supercharged MX5 and whilst it was fun, it was quite hard work as it was very modified - probably too much so.

I do fancy something different this time, hence looking at VX220s and Elises.

I've driven a 2.0 Ltr MX5 a few times and it was an excellent all round package for learning RWD in my opinion. So little torque that you'd be hard pressed to make a mistake putting the power down, yet quite a lot of revs to drive with. I would imagine with another 50 to 75 ft/lb of a medium supercharger installation would make this quite a bit more fun, but it would need a lot more than that to make it properly fast IMO, and by that sort of power level loads of other stuff would need upgrading/beefing up.
