For a while now (ever since my suspension refresh and new geo - not that I'm suggesting there is a connection) I have had a knocking noise from the left rear. I did wonder whether more camber or lower ride could be causing something to rub. It only comes when I am cornering fairly sharply above 30 mph. Eg sharp right hander or roundabout. It is only when on the power. Back off and it stops. It is a fast knocking at about 300bpm. First thoughts were wheel arch liner but I have completely removed that now and it's still there. When the wheel arch was off I thought the airbox was loose so I have taken that off and it's still there. Shortly after noticing it I did a track day at snetterton. It was particulary noticabke at the harpin. Throughout the day though it dissapeared. It came back after. I am really stumped. I was wondering about rear brake caliber? Or engine mounts?

I've heard Arb bushings and drop links making that noise before.

That'd be at the front though?

Take it back to Matt if it has been since the refresh.

I take it you can't get any movement on the wheel station when jacked up?

No, I had Matt Bentley who did my suspension work look at it. He had it on the ramp and checked it over. There was nothing obvious but there were witness marks on the wheel arch so that's what we thought it was. Having removed the wheel arch it clearly isn't.

As I said Matt did give it the once over when I took it back the other week for a post refreshncheck over. He thought it was the wheel arch. It's a bit of a trek to go over too often but I may have too. Also it's hard to replicate over there... No roundabouts.

Not that I've noticed. May give it a clean up and then have a good look

Missed that. I've got a slightly warped rear disc that makes a rapid squeaking while cornering, it's conceivable if it were warped more it would make a knocking noise instead.

Could be a slight contact between wishbone and chassis under heavy compression.

Abit stumped if it's when going right only and rear left... especially a 300bpm knock

Have you looked at the driveshaft and related bits?

Well thanks guys... Lots of ideas here Cv joint Bearing, Shock Fouling wishbone or chassis Just difficult to work out what as you have to be around 40 mph, under acceleraton and turning hard right. Anyone willing to lie on the back of the car with thier headin the wheel arch whilst i drive it hard around an MK roundabout!!? It does suggest its doing something only when under compression. I might have to give in and send it back to Matt.

Matt Bentley changed the CV joint today. Seemed to be a little play there and all other avenues have been explored and discounted.

Its still there!!!

Getting me worried now. Matt, Scuffers were wondering about the diff. Having had 2 gearbox changes in 3 years I am not pleased by that thought.
