Easiest way to check. Drive till warm and clonking starts. Send passenger to back of car to lie on the floor. You jump on the will (carefully) and they listen for clonk. Done.

My vx has also developed a knocking noise. Hard to hear where it's coming from but is there from cold.....

Autovaux say the oem toe links have been on back order for years. The Spitfire kit seems to be no longer available. Does anyone have long term experience of the available upgrades? It would be a shame to replace it for something costing £100s instead of £10s for it to only last a few miles or track xays before failing.

Might be asking a bit much here, but this is a video of the noise mine makes after getting warmed up:

Haven't had a chance to take a closer look at it. Does anyone know if it sounds like the toe link?

Had this looked at and turned out to be nothing. Everything at the rear end solid except for a heat shield that had come a little loose. They tightened it up and now it's fine. cost me a tenner for their time.

Nice one, that's the problem with trying to diagnose faults by remote. It should have been the toe link  Heat shields normally rattle and not knock. Cheap fix anyway.

I love how different people describe noises,

Last night one of the reception girls said here front left wheel was making a rumbling noise, I took it up the road and it was a stuck brake squeaking.

An ex of mine also once described a loose fan belt as  a growling sound lol
