Right I blame Jules and Fezz! I had put this thought out of my mind until I saw the sterling work they had been doing for paint.

I innocently sent an old friend a message about equipment, method and paints as he does it for a living. This ended up with him very kindly offering to do it for material cost! Well I can't say no to an offer like that, that's just rude.

This gives me a conundrum... which colour? I keep flitting between ideas and want .org to help make a decision.

When I first got a vx dolphin was my first choice, my main problem is I have never seen it and it's one of those colours that looks different in every pic!

I rather like the standard vx brg but don't think I've seen it in the flesh. I'm torn toward le manns green as well as Tommess Le Manns thread on here it looks stunning.

Fast forward to the national and I got to see petrol up close and it looks as good as pictures show it to be.

After these standard colours I'm torn between a few other choices the main one being some kind of grey. There is a 458 on pistonheads in Sabbia that would be the right kind of shade here

Then any other suggestions... something has to be better than 3 shades of silver! I know there have been several other threads on this but I need to decide pretty sharpish as it could happen within the next week  :ninja:  it will also stop me buying Jimmys coupe...

Aubergine purple, although that's becoming a bit popular as a respray choice now.

Sounds like you prefer darker/less offensive colours so what about something like midnight blue

Pretty spot on there Chris. Before buying the na I was going to go isotope green or something but I much prefer a more darker colour, think it works better with the vx lines. I was going to say darker colours only but if someone points me to something I think looks perfect then it could very well be a brighter colour.

candy red - maybe

aubergine purple - lovely colour but nope

midnight blue - metallic version maybe...

I wouldn't recommend a candy if you plan on driving it!  Its a nightmare to touch up or even spray match.  Imagine in a few years if you have the front bumper section resprayed to get rid of the stone chips and its a mile off matching.  Candy paints are usually reserved for the hot-rod show car world.

How about metallic black?

Yep, candy colours have no place outside Huntington Beach in California. And they look bad enough there. Audi Daytona Grey

fld/techie - dully noted about candys. I was thinking more of a bright vibrant metallic red in my head.

no offence to white vx's but no thnx...

is that tt in audi dolphin? not bad, maybe a bit dull - even for me lol

Coco - will check the sprint blue out

Stuwy, I know what you mean. I was set against a bright colour when I had it as a daily driver but now it is a w/end toy it's a possibility. Petrol is a strong contender as it fills all criteria - not in your face but not drab either.

Mexico is not my cuppa tea.

Aubergine purple is a couple I realy toyed with, but having seen a few in real life when they are not fully polished up, they just look quite dull.

the nissan r34 black was a lovely example. and the new gtr in the grey is also very nice.
