I thought the op was at 400hp? Or has he since upgraded even more?

That was at the wheels so times this by .8

ment say add about 80 bhp which should get you somewhere near flywheel bhp

Awesome :) I've been in a t350 and Tamora would love to see how this compares

Thanks again for the positive responses! I don't like armourfend because, no matter how clear they say it is, it always takes away from the depth and shine. It goes cloudy/yellowish over time (talking a few years here) and it always leaves lines where the foil ends which end up collecting dirt or polish etc. Yes the car is just under 400 bhp at the wheels. Guestimated 500 at the fly. It should be around 430-435 after the syvecs which is around 540 fly. To compare, a standard t350 is about 280 wheel bhp. (A VX na is 120 ish and a turbo 160 ish). The flywheel powers are all always guesstimates unless you run an engine dyno (which only the manufacturers really do in the Pre production and random sample tests). But lets be honest, who gives a monkeys - it always feels great when you add a load more power and torque to your motor! :D

Rob, there are very few stateside - the authorities make it almost impossible to have them here. Mike, I'm doing the same work as I was in Europe, just fancied California for a while. It's pretty great but blood expensive cost of living!

Out of interest what is it that they are funny about, surely if they can make cars like the ACR Viper for the road in the US they cant say anything about TVR or any other crazy cars?

California is probably the hardest state in the US to import a non-Federalised car into, especially with the stupid anti-smog laws. thumbsdown You struggle to import them from other states within the US, let alone a 10 year old car from Europe. :(

They probably don't like cars that can go around corners.

That is simply stunning. A good T350 is certainly on my future cars list - or a Sagaris if I find myself well off. Edit - and in the off chance you're in the engineering line of work - know any places willing to sponsor me to come and work over there - so fed up of the UK :P

AH, don't get me started on why I can't bring the TVR out here. When you see some of the heaps of metal that people have titled/registered as cars out here it just makes me angry!! I do however have a colleague with a VX220 special construction vehicle so anything is possible ;) I am open to offers on the Trev though - it's going to be an expensive and painful process trying to get it out here so if someone wants to relieve me of it I'm all ears! Even if I don't end up getting it out here, the price of the later Trevs is starting to go up so I might just keep hold of it! Track V Road are happy to keep it in their showroom so at least I know its being looked after! I'm in the automotive design industry so if you're an automotive design engineer I may have some contacts for you! But Si is right - he is first in line!! :D

The same people that made the rules which mean TVRs can't legitimately be in the US made the rules that allow you to use these on the streets...

I just don't get their logic!

And you see loads of things like this.

More road worthy than a TVR?

Those tyres are insane. There's a few threads about taking a VX to America. There was a silver one out in CA last spotted 5 or so years ago and a red one somewhere else in America but that had one of those one year permit things I think. Is that silver one the 'specially constructed' vehicle?

Oddly, that is the exact line of work I'm in/working towards. I currently spend my life on Catia designing the tooling that puts the cars together from prototypes to mass production. I'm only 2 and a half years out of uni at the moment though - just means I'll snap anyone's hand off for a lower wage if it meant life in CA :P

Saying that... the UK has become a very expensive place to live in the time you have been away.

Went to visit the car whilst I was back in the UK. The paint work is STUNNING (IMO) and no pictures do it justice. Can't wait to drive the damn thing again now. had a good look at the nitrons which are going on and the quality seems to be fantastic and far superior to the Gaz golds which are currently on (which they should be at over twice the price!) Can anybody tell me what those additional helper spring things do? Can anybody recommend a car transport company? I'll need to get the little monster send down to Racing Green (Surrey I think) for the new ECU and don't want to have to rely on my old man all the time to move the car from garage to garage!!
