Just wondering if the ecu from a z20let Astra gsi will work in a vxt. (Obv with the transponder and chip swapped also) So far the only things I can find out are the Astra has a slightly different cooling management (which I know for definite the Astra has a separate ecu for this but does this affect the main ecu) and the Astra has traction control and the vxt does not. Reason being is a friend of mine has a scrap Astra gsi that has a stage 3 remap on it. Which got me thinking. I have the parts for stage 3 I can bolt on already but haven't put them on the vxt yet. Could I swap the ecu, chip etc and have the remapped ecu running on the vxt with no issues? Quite a random one and wondered if it was possible as I don't want to plug it in without knowing in case I damage the vxt :( Cheers!

Why risk it? Far easier and safer just to fit your stuff and have a remap done that you know will be tailored to your car and personal preferences.

Astra traction control will be setup for a fwd car, so simply chucking it on a rwd platform will make for some comedy death. I'd sell the ecu to some chimp and pay for a semi proper calibration cock up (aka remap)

This ecu has an Ipf system linked to it also. So it has a plus side. Hence the question. Just want to know if it will work

LPf? Try it by all means, but I would wager it will have a fit without CAN and other bits

Stupid auto correct. ipf = tuning box from regal. It might work ok but like I said don't want to break anything. Including the ecu from the Astra. That's why I am asking to see if it has been done/would work before trying it

I'm not silly. Of course the insurance would be informed!

Ahhhh, even if you plugged it in right now and it worked with no changes, I'd sooner pour sand into the engines intake than use a chooning box from lageR

Any other comments about the question I am asking guys? I didn't ask for opinions on the ipf but thanks for your input

Honestly, just try it. Odds on it won't work without tons of pissing about, at which point its cheaper, easier, and more sensible to get mmg to do a remap on yours.

I've heard that the Astra maps can be quite aggressive, not sure if this is true or not?

Air on can be turned off with opcon too. Not really keen on the sound of aggressive power though

aircon and traction control are the main obstacles when swapping the ecu's, someone on here swapped one with an astra GSI and had lots of grief.

So try it and see how it goes, worst case you can refit your original ecu.

I'm just worried it will be pinned differently and send a 12v feed somewhere it shouldn't go and blow bits ether on the car or the ecu. Starting to sound like I shouldn't bother

The vx wiring diagram is in the TIS, which is in the deftly useless new people forum.
