Depends if the 28lbs is restriction or flowing ;)

Thats the max you can get from the VNT I used before the VNT vanes got intimate with the turbine wheel.

I guess it was more that the term boost is merely a measure of restriction in the intake path...

MAF might be a better* way to describe it

Anyone know what's involved to fit a vnt turbo? Costs etc? Edit Just seen the post above, limited to 280bhp?

Well you need one for petrol egt... Good luck with that in the aftermarket world. Then you need the actuator (easy) Then an ecu that can run the actuator Then proper software and calibration of it (note it took hundereds of man years to calibrate the vnt on the transit ;) ) Its not limited to 280 bhp, well its not persay due to the compressor maps etc. Matt had two of them ;) You are your own worst enemy, requirements creep is a nightmare when you see new shiney things and chase them, I know many people who built engines and started with a straight forward spec and then slipped into a 5 year build with many iterations that never even started. You want driveability from what I can tell (ps does that mean the mmg is undriveable ;) ) and have a big ass turbo... Get the current flavour of the month aftermarket ecu and have it setup right and just drive/enjoy the thing,

4 pages...

Aimy, eBay the Garrett, & the manifold as you wont need it if your not going to build a forged engine capable of at least 7,500rpm & spend the £££'s on going to a custom live mapped standalone ECU & job done! thumbsup

Or should this thread be re-named 'I've bought the wrong turbo what do I do now...'

Standalone and a proper map would have been my first choice before most of your other engine ancillary mods. As above I think your car would benefit the most from correct set up if your not happy with the throttle mapping thumbsup

Those are a work of art, I think I have just had a trouser moment looking at those photos.

Aimy - what is it about the drivability you are looking to change? We have a very similar set up and map so am curious.

280bhp was my estimate of FLD's comment about 28lbs of air flow per minute

It was 28lbs of boost pressure (psi).  This was from 2 turbo's as well.  It was a little over your estimate.  Engine was a cos GBA.

The loose rule of thumb is 1lb from the compressor map = 10bhp.

if its what I think, then its a K16 compressor housing/wheel and K04 CHRA+turbine+Z20LEx manifold hybrid
