Cliffie used R1-R's didn't he? (Or was it T1-R's?)
I've used AD-08 on the road in the wet and they never gave in, not sure how they'd be on a track day in the wet though.

If I remember right I think it was T1-Rs so that's the direction I'll probably go if theres no other opinions!Cliffie used R1-R's didn't he? (Or was it T1-R's?) I've used AD-08 on the road in the wet and they never gave in, not sure how they'd be on a track day in the wet though.

Better off with snow chains looking at the weather they say we are gonna have.

Are A021Rs available in your sizes? Honestly the best wet tyre I have tried, far better than AD-08s.

I use Federal RS-R, great tyres. Superb in the dry and not too bad in the wet either. Here is a vid of my car on RS-R's at Goodwood in the wet. It was absolutely chucking it down that day, so much so that there were reports of local flooding on the radio! I still tried to push as hard as I dare so the vid should give you a rough idea of how the tyres perform. They are a good cheaper alternative.

my mate put T1rs on his Mk3 MR2 and today at Donnington in the Wet his grip was better than our on normal road tyres. I was impressed with the grip

Rainsport II if you really are gearing up for wet.
As previously discussed, I don't rate RS-R in the wet but Pete seems to be the track equivalent of Tarzan! The TA madza is usually a handful of seconds a lap quicker than me, but on Pirellis at very wet anglesey it was 15-20 seconds.
The assertion that proper (ie Pirelli, Michelin, Dunlop) road tyres are better for deluge weather is 100% spot on imho.

Is it a good thing to be a track day tarzan? Maybe being a bit thick here but I don't get it. I was never very good at climbing trees and I've certainly never had a pet chimpanzee.
Road tyres could work but don't go for Bridgestone. I did a wet track day at Oulton Park last year on Bridgestones, they spent the whole day coming up with different ways to try and kill me. Absolute rubbish!

I run my Federal RS-R all year round too , but if you absolutely must win the trackday race, then I would go for the softest compound and with loads of deep cut thread, which is the Toyo R1R

This happened to me as it started raining on RSRs
it did sound like you were on a trailing throttle for most of the approach to that corner then the engine note changes as if you do something on the throttle

Never used RS-R's on track, but did use them in the wet, and they are pretty good. Better in the wet than previous Kumho KU31's.
I suppose it depends if its going to be a tyre thats put on a set of wheels and only used specifically if its teaming it down, or if its a changeable weather type alternative to a R888, for example. In that situation, a the RS-R may be a good choice, as it will still give you similar grip levels and feel to the R888 on track, but will handle standing water better both on track, and the drive to / from the track. T1R's can overheat apparently with prolonged track use, so may not be ideal for variable conditions...
So its do you want an intermediate (e.g. RS-R perhaps) or full-wet tyre (road tyre / T1R)?

I used T1R's last year and they were OK, I used R1Rs this year and they were better.
