I made a similar box for a customer about a year ago, in a CRX Del Sol. The fibreglass work looks pretty good mate, I tailor my boxes to suit each individual sub's capabilities and specs, but the cubic capacity of your's looks similar to that of a standard generic 10" MDF box so your laughing as 90% of subs will sound fine in it.

i'd personally sell them carpeted, it would cost an extra tenner to trim and improve the finish no end :)

Gearing up to make a few of these over Christmas, so far I've got Aimy and Dan R on the list. Anyone else want one?

Might look into finding a place to flock them close by. Thanks for the kind words

Think I'm going to go the carpeted route as the amount of dust from roofless driving will soon build up and the flocking will go smooth and shiney (this is what happened when I had it done on a previous car although it was on the dash)

I'm officially keeping the VXT, so yes, I'm interested. Would prefer the carpeted look... Already have an amp in the boot so assume wiring up won't be a biggy!

To be fair, you can see about 1.63cm2 of the thing once its fitted, so its not that much of an issue :P

Anyone else interested, this'll be the last batch for a while as I'm sick of the stuff.

Tom, getting some parts sorted out for when I get back to the uk at the end of Jan. Still interested in a unit?

Just bought my VX on Sunday, but already losing the will to live with the sound. Waiting for carplay compatible head units before I get a new head unit, but no reason to wait before upgrading the speakers. I definitely want one! And would prefer it in carpet too if possible. Add me to the list!

Like, really very keen indeed. Just discovered I have to take the passenger seat out to replace the other speaker! That's waiting for the weekend then…

    REALLY??

Posted 17 March 2014 - 09:52 PM

tom, remember i asked for just a rear section, with mdf front so i can fit a pair of speakers? how deep would that be for magnet clearance?

i think a pair of 8" would be sufficient with the vibe 6.25" 2 ways i have in the standard positions, or even a set of components instead of the vibes....hmmm...
