Whenever I've ever painted or sprayed anything all the crap floating in the air seems to end up sticking to it. I'd worry about doing a large area with some extraction. I have rattle canned a few car parts before. While the finish looks good the paint often comes off easily if it gets knocked. Maybe it's down to the cheap Halfords cans though.

I'm currently in the middle of painting one of Jonnyboys Hard Tops and wish I hadn't bothered.  My dad carried on trying long after I gave in.

Preparing it was a doddle as you'd expect however painting is a specialist job.  I thought how hard could it be on something as simple as a HT but it's been a nightmare.  I've spent £200 on paints, lacquer etc so far and am now contemplating taking into someone to do the job properly.

My advice.. Not worth it.. I was ready for throwing it in the bin...

I sprayed a wing and door on a focus once it's quite easy once you get the hang of it. I plan to do my respray myself by turning garage into a little spray booth with plastic and extractor fan and filtered inlet. Hoping it will turn out good but as I did the repairs on the sills myself figured might aswell try. If it looks crap il send it in to get done properly.

Be careful what paint you use, some of it is seriously harmful stuff and not just to the user. Neighbours, pets, gardens can all be screwed by the stuff.
