Possibly breaking as it's a cat d and people are anal about buying them even if the damage is very very very light ( turbo ear torn of and a scratch down the door ) so it would be worth more in parts then selling in showroom condition. Have had it 7 months and hove only covered 1100 and spent £4000 to bring it up to that.

If you spent 4k plus the purchase price I doubt you'd get that back in spares. That doesn't include time spent breaking it either.

Get it on ebay in its current state someone will give you 6k for it easly. You could also try turboluca on here this would be just up his street. I wouldnt assume you'd get more breaking it. A lot of the parts might be very hard to shift and you'll be sat on them for ages.

As above, put on ebay. You may be surprised how much you will get for it.

Is it still damaged or repaired? If its repaired and on the road/mint with that mileage stick in on pistonheads at 8500 all day long. Sorry I thought you were breaking because it was damaged. Crazy to even consider it if its a functional road car in good condition.

I'm selling a tubby at the moment with 70k on the clock but also in good condition thats on at 8750.

Given that the general standard of VX's is not fantastic with paint bubbling/cracked sills etc I would hold out for a good price on it. Maybe we are just getting to the stage now when overall condition can pip cat status. Certainly if I was looking for a car for myself I think a few years ago I would never have considered a cat car but now I think I'd look at everything and just try to find a good one. Having pics of the damage pre repair will really help.

this doesnt add up Richard.....unless there is something we dont know about

you had it 7 months..bought last August / September, done only 1100 miles in two months, / 100 miles a week, lets say you paid £7.5 k ..".havent driven it since October"...its now Catd..have spent £4k.....and you want to break it cos no one will buy it...but wont sell it for £6k...

..so you want at least £7-8k in break up??......sorry wont happen..if you want some money back..do as others have said...ebay for £6k....or drive it.....

all  imho  HH

Richard, luckily for me, I originally replied via mobile it failed!   If you & the cars gen, you can't break it. These guys on here know what they're on about. Take their advice, it'll be a damn shame & if times not an issue it's better in 1 piece than spares. That's  got to be more frustrating taking up space!

You can't sell a cat d turbo turbo for the price of a hpi clear it's a no brainier . And you bought the black Vxt from Tvr dean which he is a dodgy guy! Not saying you are , seriously breaking a Vxt that's road worthy !! You'd wait all year or longer to break ! You can buy a hpi Vxt for 9, 9500, 10 at current time.

Has the car had any mods? is it stage or standard? these points will of course raise the value even if a cat D, in fact it is interesting the various values of cat insurance cars, please do not break it they are getting rarer as the years go by.

I know a few more have now been broken for parts and soon the values for them will rise.

No completely standard as I Think that's how they should be and I think there worth more this way. My escort cosworth is the Same and have owned that for nearly ten years and has only 21000 and I do love looking after my cars

As stated, this Post makes no Sense. Do you mean you made a Claim and they paid out, then you bought the Car from the Insurance and spent 4k putting it right. Or did they just repair it? Either way I don't understand why you would want to go to the Trouble of Breaking(Literally!) it? To Profit or Recoup some Cat D Revaluation losses? These Cars are Rare but not that Rare.
