why not just become a premium member and post a for sale advert, it is worth no more than £8k being a cat D and no more than £5k if broken for parts.
But then again it was never about being broken was it

when people come look at it and I tell them it's cat d then they start being funny about it but as I say I'm in no rush to sell her
You dont say!!! Advertise it as a cat D at the market price for a cat D and you'll sell it and people wont "start being funny" when they think they're coming to see a straight car and get there and are told its a cat D car.

It was advertised as a cat d repaired car in the advert
Then why say when they turned up and you "told" them it was a cat D they got funny? Sorry but somethings a bit odd here, you seem very awkward to deal with.

Can't be arsed to look back on thread now I have started my reply, but how much did you pay for it? £2k?

Advertise it as a Cat d at the going price and see what response you get. It would make it a easier sale if you can supply all the bills receipts etc.
If you still cannot sell then reconsider braking , It will take far longer to sell all the parts, You will still not make as much as selling it complete.

Why does it matter so much about being cat d? My car is cat d, it is perfectly safe to drive and it doesn't affect my insurance premium in the slightest or anything else for that matter..
I actively search for cat d cars when I'm looking for a new motor. So long as it has been repaired properly, who cares if an insurance company didn't want to repair it. If you put something like "cat d but fully repaired" I'm sure you will sell it no problem (that is of course as long as it is repaired properly). Cat d cars can be a bit of a bargain and more people are starting to realise this I think.
Cat d cars don't fetch top dollar but if you bought it cheap in the first place I'm not sure that matters.

Why does it matter so much about being cat d?
Because they are bought by conmen like TVR Dean or UK Lotus Centre who cover up the terminal damage and sell them on.

I thought terminal damage was reserved for categories A + B?
Any way, it matters not. The essence of my post and I think Jonnyboy's as well is that a cat D car is perfectly okay if you inspect it properly (or have some one else do it if your not sure). If it had been mended to a high standard then there is no problem.

You've got a cat d now after that prang with the uninsured Polish guy. Does it make a difference? The hell it does, your car has been repaired to a standard that is better than it was before, plus you refreshed lots of stuff you weren't able to get at. My view is probably the same as anyone else, I don't care as long as it's listed on the ad and you have a good look over. In fact with a cat d you probably get a really good bargain
