Apart from refusing to help out with a failed self closing boot (two days out of warrantee) on my 7 series, the Beemer dealers in Southend and Chelmsford have always been really good.
Strikes me that the manufacturers place a lot of pressure on the dealers over margins etc (looking at some of the piston heads threads) that some dealers are ripping their clients off to try and make up the numbers.

I've had similar issues with my local BMW dealership and it got to the point where I was frightened to leave my car with them, even for a service.
I started taking mine to a BMW specialist, Darren Wood ( http://www.darren-wood.com ). I was chatting to the guys there whist having a service one day (they make you bacon butties and walk you around the car whilst they work on it ) and they told me the reason they left the main dealerships and set up private is because of how much of a sham the dealership were.
Btw, it's not just BMW. I have a mate who was a mechanic at the Porsche dealership near me. He was so horrified at the practices there that he had to quit. He now also works for an independant Porsche specalist

Sytner BMW in Newport have always been great with me I've had a few slight issues over the last 6yrs of running BMW's and they's always taken care of them properly. I have had only basic issues with the cars though.

You guys aren't making me very happy at the moment. I've just ordered a new 2 series and decided to take the five years servicing deal where as with the previous car I used a specialist. I've just got that feeling of shooting myself in the foot.

Sytner Sutton Coldfield are great. I order a £5 part for collection on Saturday morning, get a free breakfast while I wait for it to be brought from stores and am entertained by them dealing with a succession of owners making a fuss over trivial issues or asking why the screenwash charge isn't covered by the service plan.

Sytner Solihull aren't too bad either, though never really had anything major done by them as my cars are now too old to bother with a service schedule.
