Evening all! Whilst my VX is "in the air" with under trays off (for a decat), are there any other "matter of course" jobs I should do? I had a good look at engine mounts, seem OK (no visible splits of cracks). I don't track but am a "spirited" driver at times. Considering installing Polly inserts (or will the additional vibration just drive me nuts!). All guidance appreciated. Ben.

IMO I would just install the Poly inserts. As for the vibration etc you should hardly notice it.

If you change just one engine mount, you will not get any vibration. Steve

It's "the" side "engine" mounts which "fail". Not the "front and" rear.

That's an excellent tip for all us novices!

If you replace broken sidemounts they can fail again within few miles, or many miles, depending on driving style.

The front/rear poly inserts prevent the engine from tilting more, thus less stress on the sidemounts, thus longer life.

At idle the inserts do add some more vibration send through the chassis. Difficult to judge if you can live with that or not.

I've seen "side" mounts last 1 mile and over 80Kmiles... with similar driving styles.

Engine tone is Sh1tier too. Good shots though!

Surely a full suspension refresh is in order! :D

I have polly inserts front and rear. I got them off vinaceous Amazon. At first I just put an African Grey in the back and although there is a slight increas in vibration it makes the drive a lory more exciting. Everything feels more taut and sharp.

I just put the front one in and was worried it would be kaka. But It's absolutely superb.

Parrot puns aside, I really recommend anyone get both done as it makes the car feel a lot sharper. The vibration is noticable, but just adds to the fun.

Suspension refresh is certainly the most obvious thing to do

Another trick is to "fill" the holes in the front/rear mounts to give less flex, but still not give more vibrations to the chassis at idle.

Not many samples of that around though.
