Has the brake fluid stayed in the system? looking at the rad surround it looks like it has hit the brake pipes to the ABS unit? till you get the clam off you will not know fully what other damage is lurking to the front suspension or chassis.

Apart  from the damage it looks a tidy car and one of the best colours in the range, Silver is obviously the best colour LOL.

    Good luck with the car.

At the end of the day the car will have to go through an MOT before it goes back on the road, assuming it was recorded. So regardless of what damage has or hasn't been done, it will either pass or not as fit for purpose.

Good luck with the project, look forward to seeing it back on the road.

Mot is Not actually a good indicator of hidden damage especially if crash box damage can't be seen under a nice newly painted clam As long as the lights are secure the mot guy w g a f 😃

If your MOT guy removes your clams, removes your undertrays, understands how to check for chassis damage, understands how to check vital safety components, etc, etc, I'd be both mighty impressed and rather worried.

I'd love to see how he checks the brake lines, which are sealed behind the sills...

MOTs on a VX aren't worth the paper they're written on. They're basically a seatbelt, lights, shock absorber and emissions test.

But i thought an MOT after a cat write off was a little more intensive?

Only cat c ! If you have the. V5 on a cat d vosa inspection is not required and when it is they are not that thorough its a case of visual check and ensuring numbers match and it's not a ringer

I think cat c requires a re-MOT and a VIC check, which just checks the chassis and engine numbers against what's registered in VOSA.

For a cat d, I don't even think you have to re-MOT it.

Either way, those clams won't be coming off.

As I went through this last year I can confirm: CAT D only requires a new MOT which will be a request by your insurer if you are going to stay with the insurance company and keep the car after the payout. Gedi is 100% right that a cat D could be put back on the road using the old MOT and sold to any unsuspecting new owner as long as it is indate still, CAT C requires a VOSA inspection  and new MOT.

When you come to sell it, make sure you tell whoever you sell it to that it wasn't properly inspected. They need to know that it could still be damaged and potentially quite dangerous
