Does this mean there's potential to turbo the VX engine which could see a lighter alternative to the iron Turbo engine? Also, with the extra few CCs, and more aggresive tuning, I guess we could expect notably more than 175bhp...2.0 litre all-aluminium turbo engine that produces 175 bhp and was derived from the 2.2 litre engine from the VX220.

According to this site, the forthcoming Signum has a 2.0 turbocharged engine based on the 2.2 engine from the VX.

There are already 2.2l turbos on the road!
MS-Design have put a turbo on the 2.2 Ecotec. You can view my thread on the subject one page back in this tuning section.

Turboing the VX's engine wood involve dropping the compression ratio and possibly require internal strengthening for higish boooost

MS-Design do lower the compression ratio on the 2.2 Turbo.
The Ecotec is pretty tough - if you do a search on this forum you'll find info about GM taking it way up in bhp before getting major problems. They got over 700bhp in the end.
