I am very reluctantly selling my 2004 VX220 Turbo. A change in personal circumstances means this will no longer a practical car for me. I have always (until recently) had the use of a second car for commuting to work, running errands etc so I have managed to keep the mileage low. I am getting married in November and could do with something a bit bigger with more seats. It’s a genuine reason for sale and I will be very sorry to see it go after owning this for 5 years. I would much rather own this for another 5 years!
I bought the car in May 2009 and it has been very well looked after during my ownership. I am only the second owner on this car. As far as I know it has never been on a track. The private registration will be staying with the car. When I bought the car its mileage was 26,600. Current mileage is 38,369. This will increase as the car is still in use. The car comes with 12 months MOT (expires July 10 2014) and its taxed until 31-12-14.
Services have been carried out by myself as I don’t trust garages (that’s just the way I am, Ive seen too many shoddy jobs). Over the years I have always kept this very well maintained regardless of cost. For example, a while back I had an issue with a misfire. While chasing the source of the problem I changed a lot of engine sensors etc for new. The problem was eventually cured and it turned out to be a bad connection on a fuel injector (new plug fitted to the engine loom).
Here’s a brief history of what I have done maintenance wise on the car (I have all the receipts for these):
2009:
1 rear wheel bearing/hub (faulty ABS)
New Bosch alternator (old one was very noisy)
New rear toe links & track rod ends
New handbrake cable
Control arm ball joints
New clutch & slave cylinder
2010:
Front lower arm ball joint
O2 Sensors (both)
Wheel bearing (to fix ABS fault)
New Bosch alternator (again! No charge to battery)
2011:
Both rear wheel bearings/hubs
2012:
New Plugs
2013:
New fuel pump (upgrade)
Cleaned injectors (Mr. Injector UK)
Front wheel bearing (faulty ABS sensor)
New Bosch coil pack
New Bosch air flow meter
Pagid discs
2014:
New Bosch alternator (AGAIN! No charge to battery)
It has also had a new Bosch battery within the last couple of years and has had regular oil changes.
Soon after buying the car I had a trip to Courtenay Sport for a stage 2 upgrade. It had a set up on the dyno and produced 242.47 HP & 288.59 FT-LBS torque at the clutch. It has ALWAYS been run on high octain fuel, 97 minimum.
The Team Dynamic 1.2s were bough new in 2010 and are wrapped in Toyo Proxies T1R with between 4 – 5mm of tread to the markers. No damage on rims. Gaz Gold coil overs fitted in place of the rusty Bilsteins. Brakes are standard disc/calliper set up with Mintex 1144 pads & Goodridge flexible lines. Most importantly it’s got the 4 Channel ABS unit fitted which makes a massive difference. Ice mode on the 2 channel units with 16/17 wheels is no fun.
Heres a full list of the modifications and upgrades:

I have just had the front clam refurbished as it was peppered with stone chips ever since I bought it. Typical, I get it looking the best it’s ever looked right before selling it! The bodywork is in very good condition for 10 years old. There are some minor marks (it still has some stone chips to the mirror backs) and there are the usual blister spots in the fibreglass (rear clam only, none on the front).
The car has both the hard top and the soft top. I will also include a full car cover made by Stormforce (original cost £140) – needs a repair as one of the straps has torn off. Turns out it can’t stand up to a storm after all. A showercap is also included. There is also a hardtop storage bag thrown in. That's over £200 worth.
Bad points:
- Some blistering in the fibreglass as mentioned above.
- Some small cracks in the fibreglass
- Minor stone chips in a few areas (pics)
- Blistering door window seals (pic)
- Drivers seat showing the usual worn bolster & crack in the drivers sill trim (black plastic part - pic)
It will come with an Alpine CD player & Focal component speakers.
I am located in Stockport, South Manchester. Please PM me if you want to view or just want extra pics or details.
PRICE £14,995
