Hello all,

How are you all?

I have joined with the intention of buying a VX220, I will most likely wait until the winter time when the prices drop a bit but we will see what comes along.

I have just sold my Alfa Romeo GTV Cup so looking forward to something else, my best friend has a Lotus Elise S (58 plate Toyota engine) so this is what's fuelled purchasing a VX.

James

Welcome to the forum! Mine went on AutoTrader and Pistonheads yesterday depending on your budget, black with 26k.

To be honest, my budget is the lower range 5-6k figure as I'm also saving for a house, so that will only be n/a - Its tempting to blow the house money on a turbo but thats not sensible is it lol.

   Dont listen to HH, Silver is the best colour, it shows the glorious curves and lines of the car better, he is a silverist.

I will be honest, I'm not actually a fan of Silver, on any car... I want Black, Red or Yellow ideally.

that is low end N/A's for that. Don't be put off with a Cat-damaged car. Not sure how much you know about VX220s but take an owner to help look at any perspective buys.

VXs are written off all tooo easy with little damage. (good news for you :) )

Yes, I don't mind coming and having a look, there are a few owner about our way. If you want to come and have a poke at mine for reference you more then welcome. I might even take you for a drive

Most (if not all) VXers are happy to look over a car for a serious buyer :D

Yes that's the vibe I'm getting, all seriously friendly. After further thought and reading I may increase my budget for a turbo....

I am very much starting to consider it, buy a 2.2 and have it standard for a year or so (well maybe put a couple bits on it) and then slowly build the kit up and install (im pretty handy with tools, ive done full engine conversions before)... 260bhp would be enough for me I recon!

Any real reliability issues with 2.2 charged?

I'm certainly not going to pay 5.5k to Courtenay for one when it appears you can get all the bits for under 3k from a little research ive just done.

Your better off just getting a Vxt then a simple exhaust an remap would get you 250,260bhp.
