catch tank arrived today, god knows where i'm gonna mount it.have an idea of a bracket from the header tank bracket, there's a bit of space in that corner.

all the silicone bits were wrong bloody size though, so am going to have to wait till the replacements come..

It crossed my mind to drill two holes and mount it in the boot area, as the PA tank gets in the way.

So gave up and vent externally now

How do you filter it as it'll suck back too, won't it? I have a small ram air filter to go on the pipe to filter any suck back. Is your car your daily?

It's got fitted a little filter, stays clean. Mine is a track toy. Used once or twice on road this year as I trailer it

ok, done the bottle this morning, went for a quick blast to halfords for a jubilee clip, came home and not a drop in the bottle......not even a haze.... :tumble:

will check the airfilter in a few days to see if its still coming out.is there any chance it could be something to do with the turbo/dump valve as you can hear the discharge of pressure through the airfilter?

Just start the car and disconnect the cam breather pipe and see if anything comes out on tickover.

So far yours sounds ok but ideally you wanna give it a good motorway blast.

It will breath heaviest when at max load (ie high revs and high boost).

well going by the amount of vapour from mbes when his piston failed and damaged the oil scraper ring, it was like a kettle boiling , even at idle.

I too doubt that you have any sort of serious issue. I think what has happened is that you drove it hard, the cam breather pipe spewed a bit of oily vapour back into the inlet pipe. Then you switched off the engine. The hot oil condensed on the inlet pipe back into a liquid and because the inlet pipe is usually on a sligh angle downwards towards the air filter, this caused the oil to trickle down to the air box.

that wouldnt cause a puddle on the floor and a patch under the airfilter nev, it doesnt look like a one off happening. i will be keeping aneye on it though.

ok, had the plastic bottle on for over a week now and no oil........

weather has been horrible so havent had the chance to remove the airfilter again to see if any more has gone through from somewhere else.will check this when the weather allows.

i washed my apexi and put the ram air on for the time being, and it is way louder than the apexi, and sounds amazing....i know you're all gonna jump on it for being a foam filter, but i have raised this with ram air and they assure it will be fine as long as its not over oiled, but if ive had that much oil going through the maf in the past surely a bit of oil vapour wouldnt kill it??

felt the bottom of the filter today, as its easier to reach down than take it off, and its dry.....

could the sucking effect when the breather is conncted to the air intake be the route cause? i.e when sucking air in its also sucking oil through the breather pipe?

i may not fit the catch tank now and just put a filter on the breather and drop it down to the bottom of the engine compartment somewhere. sound reasonable?

Sounds reasonable. You'll have a pretty strong vacuum before the turbo.
