Anyone driven one of these? Are they worth the premium over the S2? Would love to think these will drop to low/mid £30k in the next year or two, think they look amazing. Saying that at £50k plus at the moment seems alot to pay for one, especially as the interior seems to be the same as an Elise.

I don't think you'll see them drop below £40k let alone £30k

Agree with Lee, even when those 50:50 deals end it would mean the S2 prices hitting a brick wall too for them to go under 30k.

I've not driven one but I've been in one as passenger. Great cars but at that price over cars come into it for me personally

I've driven a few and they are not a £60k (new) car, a late S2 with 240 to 260bhp for around half that would be my choice. And then you've got the clutch wear issue as well.

That was my thinking, £30-40k at the moment for an S2 so they would have to really depreciate under £30k for the S3 to follow suit. At £50k though they are too expensive for a 'toy', low to mid £30k is possibly justifiable at a push.

I've been avoiding driving one as I do like the look of them and the 50:50 is so good I am tempted. If we have a good year next year I might treat myself :D

They are bloody rapid, driving round everything at a recent trackday I did. Look awesome - are basically an S2 with a frock on.

Value wise there are a lot on the used market already but all sat on by dealers who arent really budging on the prices. They are capping at 45k trade so still fairly strong prices. If Lotus bin the 50/50 at the right time it could work well. At the moment nobody in their right mind would buy a used one unless they drop a LOT more. Lotus cant really flog any used ones until the 50/50 stops. A few people are anticipating a massive dip in the prices when the 50/50 cars come off the two years but that assumes that a lot of people will hand them back which I dont see people doing in great numbers. All these cars will be pushed out to main dealers anyway and they will keep prices up.

When you have good S2 Exiges still selling very easily at 30k you aint going to be seeing 30k V6's for a long long time. 50k seems to be where they are holding at the moment but I can see this getting to low to mid 40's through next year.

I passed all 3 at Oulton and Cadwell rallly

Really not much in it down the straight between my SC and a V6, V6 being slightly faster.

I suppose in terms of depreciation they are a safe bet then. So £50k although expensive Is more fun than cash sitting in the bank, knowing that you wouldn't lose much if selling later down the line. My ideal car would be a 997 Gt3 but they way have increased in value defies belief. The V6 is most likely the closest thing to a Gt3, so a bargain in that respect. Will keep an eye on the market over the next year or two and do some man maths :)

Seems one dealer is doing the 50/50 deal over 24 months, basic price £53k, add the premium pack at £2k, race pack £2k, metallic paint £600, total comes in at around £57k. So definately not worth buying used at the present time with that deal around.

Most on pistonheads seem to be 50/50 over 12 months though, are all dealers doing it over 24?

Out of interest though have any of those old vx owners bought a roadster? Of those that have bought the coupe, have you unbolted the roof/done the soft top conversion?
