I’m now ready to start looking for my VX220
Thanks to all of you folks who have supported me so far on my forage into VX220’dom, I really appreciate the guidance, knowledge sharing, passenger seat sharing and time you’ve giving me to make sure I’m tooled up to make the right call on my VX220.
The car will be a weekend and trackday car to sit alongside my diesel Volvo commuter hack. I’m predominantly focusing on N/A’s as (over and above the budgetary constraints) I prefer the power delivery of an N/A car to a turbo… although I’ve not driven/been driven in a VXT yet so reserve the right to revoke the previous statement and up my budget! (let’s not get hooked on N/A vs Turbo subject on this thread, there’s plenty of those threads here already!)
Ideally sub £8,000, I’m ideally hoping to pay a little less so I have some money to spare for a hardtop and/or some after-market wheels (TD 1.2’s/Compomotives/ATS DTC’s) but, on the flip-side there is room to go a little higher for the right car.
2 seats, an engine, bla bla bla… basically be a VX220. Based on conversations with you folks on here and from what I’ve read in my hours upon hours of lurking I’m happy if it’s a Cat C/D, had a heap of owners and is relatively leggy. As long as it’s been well maintained and looked after I’m a potential buyer.
- Minor modifications (to the exhaust/ECU/… maybe even suspension)
- Hartop (OEM or aftermarket)
- Non-standard wheels (esp. interested in a set of ATS DTC’s)
- Moonland or Le Mans/British Racing green or black
