I believe some can and some can't and it's dependent wether the CL was fitted at the dealers or factoryIt has a lock where you put a key in it, and it doesn't unlock the door? Is it broken?

Just as info; indeed the black exterior emergency button at the back is to operate the central door locks when your main battery is flat. But the only thing that button does is switching the spare battery power to the CLS. You still have to operate the key to unlock the doors ! At least that was how it worked on my Turbo Speedster.

The whole reason they implemented the cop out of a magic button solution is that the door key is useless when the car is locked with the fob.

Broken no, just built in a shed in Norfolk. My VXT had key holes both sides.
