If it's cup wear, rather than tooth wear on the rack (which sounds like it is given you're seeing play on one side). You can purchase replacement bronze cups for the rack providing you have a titan rack.    https://www.seriousl...hor-bronze-cups   From memory the work involves drilling out a locking pin, swapping them and fitting a new locking pin.

Cheers Tom. Mine is a Y reg 2001 so would that be a Titan rack? I'll do a search Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes, it'll be a titan rack.

Nope. Although this is related to the drive shaft popping out at Spa. Needs further diagnosis Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Was the ring that is suppose to keep the shaft in worn?

Diff has gone, and the symptoms in part were the shaft was kicked out, hence in putting it back in there is now no drive.

Agree and will be giving the car a full once over including fitting a new matrix for the heater.

Ah might have to eat humble pie here, I had assumed the clutch was OK as it felt good under foot.
Does explain why with one side jacked up and in gear the wheel rotated freely !Posted Image
