started doing the suspension work today, along with a few other bits like wiring, heat sleeving, etc etc

Posted Image

then went to fit the gt hubs and realised that the bottom ball joint mount is pretty different...

Posted Image

looks very similar to the front which uses these:

Posted Image

i have the ones above that are spare as i got new ones with the front gt hubs, so want to make sure that they are ok to use and if i was meant to get some new ones with the hubs then i would like them sent asap!!

You mean the new Gt hubs, or? That steel one in the pic looks like an S1 later type rear hub??

Thought I would investigate the hubs a bit more to make sure they fit and wishbones aren't different

Hub balljoints seem to line up

Posted Image

Everything else seems to line up when loosely fitted to the car

Posted Image

Then can't resist a bit of bling

Looking at them hubs explains a lot joe. If i knew you was changing them it could have saved me the hastle of having mine machined to fit the high specs

Posted Image

.... are the s2 hubs machined flat like that as standard? Atleast i know im moving in the right direction in getting these rear brakes fitted now :)

Keep up the good work!!

Nope.. All uprights in your pictures are S1 versions.

S2 upright versions would have the VX style bolt-on bearing packs. Both these have the press-in bearings and hubs as far as I can tell. The steel ones are definitely standard rear (post-1998) steel S1 uprights.

Bye, Arno.

Have your new GT hubs the later bolt-on S2 bearing packs with 4x100 pattern?

And what is the bearing height difference (measured) compared to your old S1 parts now?

Picked up the powdercoated diffuser

Posted Image

Went for gloss black to match the half stripe thing going on with the roof and bootlid.

Think I'm going to get the spoiler blade re-wraped in gloss black..

Well little update today:

Fitted a new bracket to make the accelerator cable fit because I heard that's useful to have:

Posted Image

Fitted the boot which is a useful shelf

Posted Image

Here is a comparison of old / new balljoint mount. I'm guessing the original ones where machines down? I have fitted the new ones as the gt hubs and will take the old ones with it when it goes to MBR and if we need more camber then there is a good way to get it!

Posted Image

Then onto more shiny bits, gt hubs and quantums

Posted Image

Then refurbed caliper, new pf pads, new braided hoses, oh and bells and rotors

Posted Image

I will go rebuild the other side after dinner. It put up a fight bless it.
