Yes I know there are loads of posts about tyres, and I've used the search, but I still can't find in once single place a list of the correct tyre sizes and recommended tyres for different wheel sizes. Also this wiki has gone offline and isn't in the internet archive:

http://vx220.wikispa...heels and Tyres

So.. as I'm trying to justify buying some TD's this thread is really to help me

Standard NA wheels

Front:

175/55R17

The only tyre available is the Bridgestone RE040. Current price roughly £137 each

Rear:

225/45R17

More choice than the fronts. If you want to have Bridgestones at both ends then RE050's are about £94 each (is this what people would recommend?)

Team Dynamics 1.2 wheels

Front 7x16

195/50/16

Rear 7.5x17

225/45/17

Plenty of options for both front and rear. Recommendations include A048, R888

Is that right so far? Anyone want to add anything else?

Once we have a definitive list I'll create a new wiki somewhere and maybe we can have a sticky link to it so the question doesn't need to get asked any more ;)

I had 195/40/R17s on my standard front wheels and then 195/45/r17s (nicer fit) on my front standard wheels.

:(

Ok, so the bit about the standard wheels is correct though, right? (EDIT: Gah! not even that is right!)

And you can have 205's on the front if you have 16' wheels. But 195 is the more correct size to match the originals?

Shall I just close this can of worms I've found?

On two set of my 16's I have 195's (even if one type is nearly 10mm wider than the other) and on the other set I have 205's and on my long lost standard 17's I have 175's. That's covered it then.

Don't reinvent the wheel, especially when you're aiming at a moving (or ever evolving) target

That's because a lot of information is common between S2 (and S1 in some cases) and VX. Why duplicate information.

Unless you're running Elise hubs and discs on your VX.. ;) As above, an exhaustive subject..

I thought the thread was about tyres, not wheels.

I'll have destroyed one of my sets of tyres (yes, probably through non-use before any smart arses chime in) by the time you come up with a definitive answer, let alone buy them.

That was about the only thing out of the four pages of info on there that was of any use, in the first place.

Wasn't Framauro the man behind it?

This thread is about tyres. Tyres that fit the VX220 wheels, which are a different size to the Elise wheels aren't they?

Regarding the old wiki, it can be exported by one of the owners - does anyone know if they are still about? (Ratspants, Jasonp1980, pcmanning). Otherwise some of the pages can be grabbed by the internet archive. Actually it looks like if you just email help@wikispaces.com they'll sort an export for you

Yes and No.

Not worth the effort unless you want to know how many of a certain colour were produced at some indeterminate point in the production run and there were only about four other pages with content. The SELOC wiki is 1,000 times more useful.
