Hey all,

A friend of a friend owns CC Tuning in Burton. They specialise in writing custom remaps for cars and I'll be taking my Tubby there in a few weeks to get to Stage 2 once I've fitted my exhaust and done some intake work.

They have done a lot of development work on the Z20LET package used in the VX220 Turbo and will take half a day writing a custom remap on their rolling road. NA's can also be mapped. The typical charge is £300 which is already a bargain but if we get a few names, he's agreed to do it for £250!

The standard Turbo would also benefit from a remap as the standard map has the infamous flat spot. You'd get good power gains and improved driveability along with better economy. Website for CC tuning is here if you want to do some homework. All searches have found nothing but praise for the guy.

I'll give 2 weeks for everyone to get their name down. I'll be submitting the final number on Friday 26th June.

Just how custom, compared to the mpps work that siztenboots has done?

Not seen that to be honest. As mentioned, the guy specialises in remapping and has done lots of dev. work on the Z20LET package. It's a bespoke map based on various performance measurements but I'm no tuning specialist so can't say much more. If there's any questions, I'll gladly pass them on or put you in contact with the guy. Basically just wanted people to understand that it's not a simple case of plug in, download and drive away. Know you're just playing devils advocate Stu. I'll be using my car as a guinea pig but believe he's done VX's before and plenty of Astra VXR's etc.

Possibly interested, I was going to take mine to either Courtenys or Thorney, but what exactly would they do than other re-mapped don't? There must be tonnes of maps out there for all the Astras etc...

may also need them to put a pre-cat pipe on too, not sure if I can suffer doing it without a ramp!

Waiting for someone to tell me off now lol

The No #1 thing he needs to concentrate on is eliminating the boost spike, which isn't really an issue on a stage 2 car, but is on the stage 3 and 4 cars. If he can do that I will be impressed, but I suspect it will need some mechanical mods to be fully achieved. Dyno plots to view the effect of smoothness need to be done in a low gear, maybe 2nd or 3rd, as 4th gear doesn't highlight the boost spike as much due to the time it takes to accelerate. If you post up graphs for 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear pulls you will see what I mean, as they will likely vary. Good luck, it's always good to get more tuning competition in the market :)

Cheers for the advice there Nev. I'll be present for the mapping so will pass on your suggestions. S20 VX - Sorry I've been a while getting back to you. Basically, Courtenay's or Thorney's would also do their mapping on a rolling road. I guess they'd have more experience on VX's specifically. However, the engine, ECU, etc is not exactly unique to the VX. As this guy does pretty much nothing other than tune cars for a living, part of me thinks that his experience would be preferable to Courtenay's and Thorney's whose specialty isn't necessarily mapping. I'm sure he could fit your decay pipe. Or you could just quit being lazy and do it yourself. 😉 I've pretty much got everything for Stage 2 now. Just need to fit it all and get it mapped. Will be contacting him today to see when he can get me in. Anyone else want me to put their name forwards? Just trying to gauge interest really. Feel free to wait until I post the graphs and a write up in my project thread before you commit. Project thread is here. http://www.vx220.org...-3#entry1797378

Might be worth getting a few members in for a rolling road day, seems to offer discount on that as well for club members, depending on numbers I guess.

Yeah I could look into that in the near future if people are interested in that.
