Sorted :-)

Ended up doing it myself. Rang round local garages and:

  • ATS didnt have the "specialist tools to do it"  :glare:
  • ATS referred me to a 'specialist' who charged £20 if they had the right key to do it and £40 if they didnt (p,lus VAT)
  • My favourite local garage, who thought £60 to £70, but could be more if they had trouble getting them off :angry2:

I am not a miser (love spending money, but believe in value for money) - so took advice above and the actual removal tool me less than 5 minutes (19mm Halfords socket and a mallet)....but the removal of each bolt from the socket took me a few minutes each on top.

Socket only just got the last one off as the splines were wearing off by then. But I think it will still be OK for removing normal 19 bolts.

Overall better to do it my self.

Cheers for all the advice chinky chinky . Now to sort the ABS light thing

Kev

For future reference - I lost my key , it was in the slot under the bonnet but must have fallen out . I've now cable tied it in place. The Vauxhall key is about £70 , they need to see your log book and the key code is in your hand/service book . Mad price but , if you figure the cost of replacement bolts and removal cost , it's not a bad option . You can buy off eBay - but not sure if those a are any good

suggestion is you keep it inside the car...its as useless as a poke in eye if you cannot get into the bonnet for any reason....

Especially as you need to get the front wheel off to get the bonnet open if for any reason the bonnet release fails
