Hello all. Long time since I have been here. I really miss my VX Turbo. The greatest handling car I ever did own. I've now sold my Porsche Cayman S. Very nice car, but oh sooooo boring. And very hard to fiddle with. I sold my VX because my old bones where hurting getting in and out of it. I've been lead to believe, that's the Internet for you, that the Lotus Europa S is some 2" lower at the sides when getting in and out. Does anyone know please if this is REALLY true? Also are the standard Europa seat any different to the standard VX Turbo seats? Thanks for any advice. Regards. Korkey.

Ive got a soft spot the Europa. Often thought of chopping the VX in for one. The sills are lower yes, and the roofline is higher. The seats are the same though, at the maximum the foam is very slightly thicker, so its no Porker in terms of comfort. Ive bulked up my VX seats and would guess that its more comfy than Europa ones. The roof doesn't (and can never, unlike the Exige) come off. As such, its a bit quieter than a VX, but just stick a hard top on :P

The question I have asked about them, but never had a straight answer, is if they are any wider internally. My old bass had the Tesla roadster and it felt much nicer inside as the sills were lower and it was a good deal wider inside. Felt less claustrophobic.

For me, it's not enough of a change from the VX, Personally i'd look at the Evora instead.

The biggest issues with the Europa are: 1) it looks like a sh*t-awful home-brew re-body of something else 2) I've been told the engine is pretty much untunable because of some draconian locked-down ECU 3) it's not a targa 4) it looks like a sh*t-awful home-brew re-body of something else...yeah, twice 5) it's all wrong to look at from most angles because of the odd proportions, mismatched detailing and that niggling irk that you can see the VX beneath the crap fancy dress (yeah, thrice) 6) even if you like the way it looks (which you shouldn't) they came in a load of terrible colours 7) it looks sh*t (what?)

I have the silver one on ph at the moment. They are essentially exactly the same as an Elise in terms of entry, driving position , interior I think there was a lot of marketing bs around at the time of launch. The ECU is vastly improved over the vxt its hard to believe it's the same engine. Power delivery is much much more progressive they did a cracking job of that bit. It's one of the most enjoyable cars I've had all year, totally different to a vxt it is more like an sc Elise. I personally love the looks I think the design has matured very well and it looks great in the metal. Fiveoclocks blue one is a bargain, mine is expensive but its literally like a new one so depends on your budget and what you want to use it for but they are fantastic cars. Amongst the best to roll out of hethel IMO.

Its an opion, however putting it in same category of uglyness with Prius and Multipla is not fair. Think the Evora looks terrible, the way the rear wheel section is dimensioned. The Europa can be tuned though it might take some extra effort. As all serious tuning will.

Those pictures look lush!! Yeah, one of the main reasons I haven't got a Europa yet is the fear of getting a willy beating from Dunk. He has a massive issue over the Europa. :P But then he drives a VW Golf, so he is clearly a bit dull...

Damn right you would get a willy beating! >:-| ...and shut up about the Golf. It's compound-charged and anyway, you're a VAG bitch too. Plus the LBC more than negates the relative dullness of the Golf. Hurumph. Love-oo x

This x 1,000,000

If you do want an uglier, slower and more expensive VX then just get an S1 Elise.
