Now I have just noticed that these tyres are fitted as standard to the new lotus 2-eleven road version, has anyone tried these on their vx, I'm just in the process of searching info about tyre threads on here as my current ad08's are on their last legs, I run a 17 combo on compomotives mo2's. Would've tried the federal but they are unavailable in my front size and the ad08's do tramline. Don't shout at me but would these be a better option? Anyone use them? I'm just fast road use.

I'm also considering the MPSS for the Evora too.

They've got to be pretty good if lotus spec them on a 450bhp lightweight car? Right?

Only thing I would question is whether lotus specified a certain compound of mpss for the 3-11?

As an example, the P-Zero they recommend for Evora are MO and MO1 (Mercedes fitment). So I'd assume that same MO & MO1?

That's fair enough. I just wanted to make the point that one model tyre may not be the exact same as another of the same make/model. Certainly a large part of the engineer's development work on the elise(s) and vx220 platforms was with specific tyres for the cars

They are by all accounts, one of the best all round road tyres you can buy at the moment (and I mean proper road tyres, not heavily grooved, soft compound semi-slicks..), but they only come in larger sizes (18" +) so unless you're running wheels this size, they aren't really an option.

I run them on my Golf GTI and the traction, breaking and sheer grip are incredible. Only issue with them on the Golf is it makes the car a little too competent so it's hard to find the limit the car just leans and leans and LEANS!

Just to add, Eagle F1 Asym 2's are a very good road tyre (as I think I've said on here before). Not as much dry grip as my AD08R's (to be expected), but an excellent all rounder. Comparable to the MPSS on some cars, but not quite as potent (much cheaper though!) I've heard.

Buggar only checked availability on the 205/45/17 fronts as I thought that would be the difficult tyre to buy, no 225's. May have a look at the good years, on peak runs I've always been able to slip with the ad08's, I'm not sure they are that great, although I've had nothing to compare them too.

Tyres like the AD08 are great, but are focused on the occasional track-dayer, hence they can take a bit of temperature to feel at they're best. Road tyres work "out of the box" in that respect. Plus they have a more compliant ride, and don't fall off a cliff (grip wise) when its properly cold..

You just have to be honest about your cars actual use, and select appropriately.. I think some people actually like the overly stiff, slightly on-edge feeling you get from semi-slick tyres (which is completely fair enough), but the majority are kidding themselves that they are actually any quicker around British roads with them..

Thanks matey, I may well give these ago. Less than £300 for a set of 4, got to be worth a go with some very very good reviews too.

Has anyone else had experience of a proper road tyre on their vx, the continental contisport 5 are also very highly acclaimed. Would I be compromising grip by fitting these tyres for b road blasting over the ad08's, I'd hate to get this decision wrong.

Michelin Pilot Sport 2s are worth a look as well for road use. There's some rare objective comparison here from a guy who ran MPSSs on a Ferrari 360 and switched to Kumhos. This is primarily road & some track days, and he does drive it on! He had supply issues with the MPSSs so couldn't replace like with like. http://www.backroads...0-Modena/page28

Pretty tyre, are you on the 180 or 120's and do you use them on the road predominantly?
