They are pretty good in the wet but I just went through a set of the soft compound ones in about 2k miles.

Yes, and M135i is handles purely due to its tyres... the suspension leaves a lot to be desired IMO

I've contacted michelin to see if they are expecting to do a run in 225/45/17 however I don't hold much hope.....shame as they seem to be the best tyre available.

I'm thinking of trying the ns2r next time. Do the shoulders stand up to abuse (unlike the 595 rsr)?

The shoulders are very tough. It took 2 fitters to get the rears on :-) I never scrubbed the edges badly even on track.

Pretty unlikely unfortunately. New tyre compounds/patterns tend to only target the sizes used on current cars to maximise payback time.

More depressing is knowing that going forward, the tyres available for the VX220 are pretty much what is already there.

I noted the new MX-5 comes with a 195/50/16's in the basic 16" wheel spec car.

Be interesting to see what tyre that is.

I have MPSS on the Zed, and they are a great road tyre. Was never convinced by spending that much on tyres before, but thought id take the plunge after they always got such high praise on the Zed UK forum. Id say they transformed the car. Much more grip in all conditions, and you get alot more communication from them, so you can feel when and how the tyres are working. Couldnt suggest them enough if that is what you are looking for.

I'm going to use rear wheels on the front and I'm looking for tyres. I have been told by quite some people that Ns2-R are great tyres but the smallest size in 17" is 215 which is a bit to much for me. Michelin pilot super sport come in 205/45/17" just checked their website... Are they really that good? Just started to consider them because lotus put them on the 3-eleven lol http://www.michelin....lot-super-sport
