I know a chap who has his own business producing high quality CF car parts and he would make a limited run of these splitters but would be very expensive unless we can get hold of/borrow one to make a mould from.

Would anyone be kind enough to let him use theirs to help out fellow vxer's??

Once we have a mould they can be produced in either carbon fibre or fibreglass, whatever people would like and in small batches of 5 so we do not need big numbers of people to commit just really need a doner splitter to start to ball rolling.

Can anyone help all those desperate for a nice splitter on their VX??

Many thanks

Ben

another dreamer! Look i know you all think there is massive demands for splitters in reality there isnt! Fld tried a group buy and failed on numbers, i offered ages ago to do a run but had not one single Person asking hence giving up making them as cant be bothered for whats involved Then there was the carbon one last month that went like a train crash. Make then for sure but you will have usal oooh ill have one then disapears when cash is wanted Then the oh i smashed it on a speed bump its your fault it broke etc And anything in carbons going to be too much so again will fail. Have fun but why not spend some cash and make something new instead of ripping other peoples items off 😉

I'm in the market for a splitter and would prefer CF/Kevlar. Money is burning a hole in my pocket but nothing turning me on available. UC one had a fair bit of interest but wasn't "aggressive" enough for the masses. I don't see you'll have a problem getting 5 if the price is sensible. ETA I'm happy with the subtle UC one (if it ever materialises) so not saying my name is on a list for this one!

I do have a mould for a dempert but it's a bit tired so would ideally need remaking. There wasn't the demand to justify my time. No one seems to want to do their own..... Pussies!

How do you! Did you make the mould? Thinking of having a good at making one as not really getting anywhere trying to buy one :-( Did you make it out of MDF? Would you want rid of the mould?

Yeah, I made my own mould. It's a very tight mould hence its tired. Thought I might do one with grip base rather than sheet alloy. Just not enough interest to justify the effort. Not really interested in selling the moulds.

:yeahthat:

I'm in need of a Robin or Dempert style deep splitter  too. (Not carbon, but simple cheap GFK or maybe Kevlar)

Bacause the mould is so tight it has some missing gelcoat where mouldings have pulled bits off!  I was planning on repairing it, taking a moulding and making a fresh mould.  This time I'd make the bottom piece all GRP instead of the alloy plate and I'd make it a two piece mould.  Clearly this is a fair amount of work and I'm fairly busy at the moment so if there was enough demand I'd get this done at my local glass shop and spread the cost over a number of mouldings.  Given the demand is tiny it will make them expensive so I'll do it when I get chance.

Bit steep for a splitter lol

And now we get down to the real reason.

It's why my genuine one is staying safe and sound in the garage (plus I definitely can't be arsed to fit it) and is not going to be lent out for somebody to make a knock off copy of it.

P.S. Here's a blast from the past for you Matt. Had forgotten all about it until this kicked off again and just had a dig through the garage. Never could work out a way to fit.
