Quite the contrary.  I bought it in perfect condition 10 years ago, and have driven it every day since as my daily drive.

Not to sure what to make of this? If it's a bill for a service it's horrendous, if its a supercharger conversion it's probably very reasonable ☺. Can someone enlighten me please?

Hopefully I'm not asking something that has been covered in another thread, apologies if so. What's the general view on the cost of running a VX? I know it won't be cheap but what about general serviceable parts like ball joints or wheel bearings, the day-to-day sort of stuff? How easy is it to get hold of them? I keep talking myself out of and then back into taking the plunge, the other option has an R,2 and M in it and is made by Toyota 😕!

Just buy one.

Costs for me are on a near standard* VX NA:

Service and MOT = £150 tops

New Tyres on STD Wheels = £145 per corner, fronts can be more expensive, but I haven't looked the prices in a couple of years

New Tyres on TDs 1.2 = £90 for some Kumo's which I got this year.

*when I say standard I mean:

Viper Induction Kit

Miltek Exhaust

Piper Cross Manifold

200 Cell Sports Cat

Personally speaking I would say that the biggest cost for 'day to day' items is Tyres.  I can't comment on Supercharger's or Turbo's, but I would assume most costs are lower on more 'standard' cars.

The modified = the greater cost to service (IMO)

Also your biggest worry/expense will be buying 'new things' for it!  Everyone buys a VX then goes 'oh this would be good for it!', 'and this, and this, and this......'  I think I've spent in the last 5 years (excluding servicing and fuel) about 10k.

So budget about 2k a year +servicing  :P

(feck me, that's a lot and I don't even drive mine, well 350 miles this year)

As has been said, it depends on if you mod it or not. My N/A is completely standard, has parts replaced only when needed, does about 3-5k miles a year. In the 14 years of ownership, it has cost me a total of £14,100 including insurance, servicing and all parts, even polish. Fuel is currently at an average of 14 pence per mile, averaging 30mpg

The most expensive part of owning a vx is .org - this forum costs me a fortune!
