Other new mods include relocating the boot relays to the engine bay and electric boot release.

Both these things will allow for easier rear clam removal... which I seem to do a lot!

Could use a small "relay relocation guide" and also interested in the electric boot release :)

I guess there is not that much to say about the relays but some do's and dont's would be appreciated.

the relay loom can be seperated from the rear light loom, just remove the loom tape and then use some new tape to create two looms.

Try and mount the relays somewhere dry, like the diagonal bar between the subframe and bulkhead.

Aha, that sounds pretty easy. Thanks

How much extra work would it take to get the relays indoors, into the cabin? Is that a better solution than Rally's method?

Have recently bought myself a 3D-printer. Was thinking about making some sort of custom mounting-plate-box for both the ECU and relays. Time will tell if I succeed :)

As Vocky says, it's a question of pulling back the loom from the boot, unwrapping it, separating the wires you want and re-wrapping the two branches. I took the opportunity to put in new relay bases so my charge cooler relay holder would lock together with the others and also put in a new fuse holder to take the two fuses from the boot (FR1/FR2) plus the charge cooler and boot release fuses. Here's a clearer pic of the panel:

As to the prods about protecting it from water... I'm yet to be convinced that where the panel sits is prone to a dousing (and the car is now too nice to take out in the wet anyway!) but if I find it's a problem - guess what - I'll make something to cover it!

As for putting the relays in the passenger compartment, that would be trickier. You would have to extend the wiring to reach further, get the wires through an already crowded grommet and I can't quite see what the benefit would be... other than find a use for your printer!

Guess I was thinking it would be a bit better climate (warm/dry) in there and also they would be easier to access if needed. But not worth the effort if it means extending the loom. I'll see what I come up with.

The winter modification project have come so far as I'm now making room in the garage for two cars, one Speedster and one daily driver, so there's lots of time left before I'll get the clam off.

A few more photos - partly because I just washed the car and partly because I have a new point-and-shoot camera to try out.

Well done on getting the car back together. Black V would definitely look better IMO

And its all beautifully done.

If you want to try any visual changes on it (not that it needs them), am happy to do any Photoshop stuff for you.

Top job
