I have trawled through the long Dutch Software post on here, but being slow of thought I still have a few questions:

Background: I have a 2.4 manifold, Piper cams, dbilas (I know, I know) exhaust manifold connected to a 2bular system (sport cat). having spoken to Vocky a few times, he always recommends that I get the ECU mapped by the Dutch guy. I reckon there might be a bit of a gain to be made, and I will at least have it installed if i ever upgrade again (to SC or whatever).

Questions:

1. I can't see a contact for the Dutch guy anywhere. Can someone give me a good link?

2. How long is the turnaround on the transaction? How long does he hold the ECU for?

2. If I detail my modifications to him, I presume that the map he sends back will be a 'coarse tuned' map for the mods. Will the ECU learn the fine settings, or do I need to do any tweaking via the OBD port?

3. If I wanted to tweak, which tablet should i be looking for?

4. The age old question; you see the mods above. What kind of output would one expect from an NA running those mods, and would you recommend any further changes to optimise the mods? The last map details I had were an output of 161.5bhp.

Many thanks in advance,

Myles

1. info@obdtuner.com

2. Took 4 days for mine. Transferred money to him, fired over a spare ECU via DHL and it came almost by return

3. If he's got something suitable he'll pre-load it for you (even the standard map would be fine with your mods to start with) but yes, you'll need to do the learning/tweaking process via an OBD interface (not an OPCOM) and PC/tablet whatever, if you want to make the most of it

4. I use a Dell Venue Pro 8 and/or a Lenovo Yoga tablet. Key thing is it has to be a Windows device and you need to make sure that whatever OBD interface you buy has corresponding Windows drivers for whatever version of Windows you are using.

5. Probably similar figures but with better driveability and the option to then mess about with things like the 68mm (SC) throttle body and different injectors and more importantly, alter the rev limit for a bit more top end performance. I had 185bhp via a TMS/Superchips custom map with the 2.4 inlet, breathed on head, reground cams, TMS 4-1 manifold, bigger injectors and Miltek exhaust and later Piper exhausts. Could never get the 68mm throttle body working on that map so had to go back to a ported/polished standard throttle body which I'm sure OBDTuner would have coped with happily.

You want the 65mm / LE5 throttle body which is designed for the 2.4 manifold you have. OBD-Tuners works with this too.

Go with the 68mm if you plan to SC further down the line. I think I may still have the adapter plate that Vocky made for the 68mm TB -> 2.4 inlet manifold in the garage if you go down that route....

Cheers techie and Rosssco. Where do I get hold of the 68mm throttle body; what car does it usually live on? Techie, if I do get hold of one I'll need to take you up on the adapter!!

3. I bought an HP Pavilion X2 with Windows 10 for £200 specifically for use with OBD tuner. Works really well, nice and compact but with a proper keyboard and trackpad for fiddly editing.

All the information you need is here http://www.obdtuner.com As mentioned above you will get the ECU back with the correct hardware setup so it will start and drive, but to get the best from it you need to do a fuel learn session and some power runs will give you an idea of the output. I only ran mine on NA for more than a few days as I did it in prep for SC, but even on the base map the car was much (I mean MUCH!) nicer to drive with sharper throttle and a feeling of the engine being on top form IYKWIM. Best part for me is the ease of tweaking. Since SC I've changed my injectors, cat and manifold. No need to go to a garage just change in software and do another setup run. It's tremendous!

Another bone question; if I wanted to send another ECU what prep would I have to do, because I presume it won't just plug n play?

Myles I have an adapter I made which allows the 68mm TB to be bolted to the 2.4 manifold if you are interested? You will need to extend the loom though. The 65mm bolts straight on but you would have to import one from the states, unless there is still a few unused ones knocking around. I think you would be looking at 170 + Bhp with your mods. The 2.4 manifold needs a remap to get the most out of it.

Cheers everyone. I'll have a look around for the 68mm TB, a laptop/ tablet and any other gubbins.

Batman can probably lay his hands on a 68mm throttle body for you (maybe even a 65mm if you want to go that way). Otherwise it's probably a case of secondhand through US fleabay or brand new via ZZP or similar.

Yes be carful as there are 2 kinds fitted to the 2.4 engine. You would need the earlier version with the 8 pin plug. This one: http://zzperformance...ottle-body.html

Cheers.

I already have the 2.4 manifold fitted. Apart from size, what are the diferences between the two TBs above? From doing a little reading, it appears that the 68mm might not be ideally suited to the NA. Does the Dutch software negate this issue?

The 68mm works fine but gives no extra power over the 65mm and also felt a little less responsive in my application.

Cheers; does the 65mm require any adapting to fit? At least with the software, if i do step up to the 68mm (for SCing) then it is only a tweak of parameters.

The down side to the Dutch software is that it incorages more mods 🙄 The car will run fine on a base map which peter will put on your ecu for you To get the most out of the Dutch software does take time but gets easier the more you use it
