Hi, They drill the trumpets in the air box. You can do it yourself as there's a guide on here somewhere. I had it done originally and it makes the induction noise much better. No performance gain, just noise. If you want ultimate induction noise then fit an apexi filter. Kind regards, Jon

fit a K&N RC-3690 , about £50 and that is a huge filter, the apexi is pathetic by comparison. even my old small cone filter is better than the apexi

Does anybody have the size of the intake pipe where the air box would normally connect?

Always interested in evolution and be very happy to see how newer options compare to the kit built with Dave Hardwick. Tested back to back on rr with no ecu mods and proven decent increases across the board and retaining the best filtration of oem filter DG

Oiled filters are a good way of killing MAF's. Papers ones for me 👍

Any idea why no one has develops a ram pipe directly from the back of the vent into the OEM air box? Surely that would be brill?

Tested a bit and main issue the amount of wet that can be drawn in along with dirt. Not really gain worth the trade off I ran an oil cooler in that position also but nearer the back (wheel arch) and forever full of muck.....worth noting I used the car all year round a lot in all conditions The ear also provides air into the engine bay area to help with cooling DG

The results and a few pics from when DG and I tested my kit on EFI's rolling road.

Mr Simba had the same kit fitted to his car and from memory it made 302BHP on Courtneys rollers and then about a week later it made 270 something BHP on EFI's road but after fitting the kit increased to just over 300BHP!

I've got this fitted as well, an excellent bit of kit, very well designed, but it does make changing of the standard air filter a real faff, but that is noting new on our cars! Fit this with a high flow inlet manifold,  3" exhaust, plus remap, and your car should be good for 315 BHP.

That's the non smoothed raw version and all reflect that look on the rr, will dig out the normal looking ones when I get time 😉
